Wedding dress shopping question....

beautifulday2016, on December 22, 2014 at 3:47 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31

Do all wedding dress stores, have a sales associate in the dressing room with you as change into and out of dresses? Seems like all the stores have that. What if you want a little more privacy while changing?

Wat? no. I stepped into the gowns and the consultant helped me zip up. I was alone in the room though.

Generally speaking they will only enter the change room to help you "zip up"... of course if the dress is complicated to get into, they may be in the dressing room to help you but even then, if you really don't want them there, I'm sure you can just tell them so.

Yea that's creepy. The consultant helped me button or zip if I asked her to, but she didn't stand there while I was in my skivvies. I went to 3 different places too...

The consultant helped me get into each dress and I was grateful for the help. Some of those dresses are big and heavy and need to be put up over your head. It didn't bother me that she was there, but if it bothers you I am sure you can discuss that with them when you get there.

They are there to help zip and button if need be. I'm sure you can request more privacy if you want to zip yourself up

I never even thought about it. I could have never gotten into any of the dresses I tried on alone. haha I'm the odd one out apparently. She was in there with me the whole time !

I needed help in and out of the dresses at one, the other just entered once I had the dress on, by the end I just really didn't care

They can help as much or as little as you'd like. I'm not very modest so at a few places, i had the sales associates hold the dress and help me find the floor, then i pulled it up and she zipped. some of these dresses were difficult for me to maneuver so i appreciated the help.

I went to two different shops and both times the consultant was in the dressing room with me. I didn't mind...its was just bra and panties to me lol. I am sure if you ask them, they will step out.

I got mine from David's Bridal. The consultant physically helped me in and out of all of the dresses but I needed the help with how big those dresses were. I don't see why you can't just ask for more privacy if that bothers you. Smiley smile

The bridal consultant didn't help me at two of the stores; the other one, she asked first if I was okay with her being in the room and helping me into the more complicated dresses. If you'd prefer they're not in the room, then speak up.

But some dresses may require their help. And some bridal consultants may push to be in the room so you don't accidentally put a dress on wrong or step on something and rip it. Not like I ever did anything like that, though...

Not all of mine did. Some of them would have me put it on while they waited outside the dressing room, and then zipped and clipped it for me. I preferred it that way. There were a couple that stayed in the room. I thought it was awkward undressing in front of a stranger.

My lady asked if I was comfortable with her in the room and if she wanted me there. I did and she was great. I think you will be fine if you want privacy. I found her quite helpful though

I went to a bridal salon where the MALE consultant helped you into the dresses and didn't leave the room. He pulled the dress I picked but I still found it a little odd.

The girl at the bridal salon came in with me and I was completely fine with it. I apologized about my buns being bare and she laughed and said at least I wasn't fully nude.

Humans our age all pretty much know what men and woman look like naked, it's nothing to be ashamed about and wedding dress consultants see customers naked and in their undies all the time so they aren't usually fazed by it.

If you really want more privacy, just ask if they would mind allowing you to step into the gown alone and if they would help you close it.

Each salon is different, some step out, some stay, some don't do anything, some just come to zip you.

I went to 3 bridal salons and at each one the consultant stayed in the room to help me into the gowns. I've also been to a friend's appointment at Kleinfeld's in NYC and the consultant stayed in the room. Wear a strapless bra and full-butt underwear. Don't be shy! Its like your doctor. They literally see women in their underwear all day long...

I had someone helping me at each of the 3 stores I went to. I may not have had a bra on after David's bridal because that thing was weird and I wasn't able to find my strapless. They've seen it all.
