Wedding Dress Shade for Pale skin tone, possibly burned by tropics

Sumer, on March 5, 2013 at 9:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I'm getting ready to go dress shopping soon, and I'm facing an interesting quandary. I'm naturally lighter than even classic ivory foundations. Also, my skin is incapable of tanning, instead burning quickly, and peeling to reveal a smooth white again. If I forget any preventative lotion, my face forms second degree burns within several hours.

We are going to be in Puerto Rico for at least a week before my wedding. It's pretty much guaranteed no matter how careful I am that I'm going to get at least slightly pinkened by the sun. So how do I choose a shade that will work at my palest pale, and also if I'm in a slightly burned state that can't be completely covered by makeup because of my pale tone? This is a DIY wedding, so I'm not getting a makeup artist.

What shades of white would work best?

Try to find a champagne colored dress. It looks fabulous on pale skin tones. You could also think about airbrush spray tanning (not the booth spray tan) for a bit of color, it looks very natural.

I have the same skin tone. I call it neon white, family says I glow in the dark. Lol I bought an ivory gown. It doesn't make me look washed out, plus if your a little pink it should still look beautiful. I just don't recommend white. You'll blend in with your dress.

Good luck! I always wear big floppy hats when outside to help protect my face.

I'm very pale skinned also, I'm going with ivory also. White looks horrible on me. I went on my first dress shopping adventure this past weekend and one of the dresses I tried on was a champagne colored lace dress at David's Bridal. It was really pretty but not the one for me, if you have a DB in your area it might be worth a shot.

@Mrs. Whitty- LOL at neon white!

My mom is an Irish redhead so I am super pale as well. I picked an ivory dress- it looked MUCH better than the true white. Bring your SPF one million and your giant floppy hat. Smiley smile

I'm really pale too - FH's palest skin is my darkest, it's not fair :p I got an ivory dress, it seems to help warm up the pale skin tones! Good luck!

Me, too. I'm the girl on the left in your photo, LOL!

I wore ivory, it looked much better than white.

    Also agree with ivory.

I suggest investing in a rashguard and a hat for your time out in the sun. Coolibar also has lots of sun protective clothing. No reason to get a burn no matter how pale.
