Wedding Dress Regrets?

Catherine, on August 10, 2015 at 9:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

Hey ladies --

I bought my dress back in February. I fell IN LOVE with my dress. I was so in the moment.

Now that I've had a few months to think, I feel like I may be regretting my decision. Is this a normal feeling?

My venue is at a Historic Museum/Courthouse with arched windows/marble floors. I thought the dress matched it well, as it is made from a brocade material. It even has pockets!

But now, all I can do is look online and wish I picked something else because I fear mine looks so plain. TELL me this is normal! Otherwise, I'm going to go crazy Smiley sad

I think it's normal. That's the problem I am having with buying my dress 9 months b4 my wedding. Im afraid of changing my mind. But, your dress is lovely and I goes perfectly with your venue. Did u keep a pic of you in the dress? Maybe it would remind you how pretty you looked in it. Also, I've seen some brides have 2nd thought until their 1st fitting. They fall in love all over again.

I'm going through the same. Realistically, my dress is great and I'm sure I will love it when I get to wear it again, but I work in a bridal shop and I am surrounded my dresses that are hundreds of dollars out of my price range, and those are the ones that I wish i was getting married in lol.

But, I change my mind about EVERYTHINNNNNGGGG. My sister, mom, and FH have a bet on whether I'll exchange it or not lol.

It's very normal. I've done it to and I waited until the last minute to order just in case I saw something I preffered. That's the problem with weddings when you have months to plan it. You have too much time to think about it and see other options. I've done that with several ideas too. But it's said and done and I'll love it all come wedding day.

Your dress is lovely. I'm going with an all lace sheath. It's plain but I plan to embellish with the veil and huge bouquet.

I think it's normal. I am having 2nd thoughts too. Especially when I see threads with dresses or a new bridal magazine comes in the mail. Just remember why you picked your dress and look at your pictures. Or, if it comes to changing your dress, shop sample sales, trunk shows and preowned websites. It's easy to find a dress 50-75% off.

I agree that it is normal, but the good thing is that if the main issue is that you feel it is too plain, you can always add a nice statement necklace, veil, etc. to jazz it up.

This is very normal, especially when you buy your dress early on. My advice is to just learn to love it again. You bought it, its stunning and thats that. You're not buying another one, you will look beautiful in the one you bought. I had to tell myself this a million times and I rocked the shit out of my dress. don't look back and move onto the next task!

I completely understand and I hope it's normal because I am doing it a little too. I know that once I go to my fitting that I'll remember how much I love it but I seriously bought it almost a year ago and i don't remember how I look in it. Don't watch "Say yes to the dress"! All I see are the beautiful gowns on the show and I keep second guessing mine xD

Totally normal. Happened to me when I went back to pick up my dress. I saw their latest and greatest. :/ The sales lady made me retry on my dress to to help me be positive and re-fall in love with my dress.

I felt the same way until I went back and tried on my dress again. The pictures I have don't do justice to how amazingly beautiful I feel when I'm wearing it. It's completely normal. Your dress is gorgeous, no need to second guess yourself.

Your dress is beautiful! I just purchased my dress the other day and I'm worried I'll be going through the same regrets sometime in the 8 months before it arrives. I think this is all pretty normal. The consensus on here is that your dress is stunning, so I wouldn't worry Smiley smile I'm sure you'll love it when you see it in person again! As others have said, you can certainly dress up your dress with some statement-piece jewelry. Just remember that YOU are the one wearing the dress, you don't want your dress to wear YOU. I think your dress fits that criteria.

I second guess my choice more often than I care to admit. I just try the dress on again and fall back in love. The big thing is to stop looking if you haven't and just try to remember how beautiful you felt in the dress when you got it.

Your dress is beautiful and will match your venue beautifully. As for dress regret I bought a 2nd dress. But I was never in love with #1.

Yep totally normal. Before I went to my first fitting, I was trying to figure out how to tell my mom I wanted a different dress. Put my dress on and all the dress regret disappeared! I think your dress is beautiful and will look amazing in your venue!

I think it may be normal. I tried my dress on again a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it all over again. Maybe that is what you need to do, try it on again so you can remember all the reasons that you loved it in the first place.
