Wedding dress regret :(

Alexandra, on April 30, 2018 at 10:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30
Ok, so I was terrified of the dress shopping experience being a plus sized bride and also because I just had twin girls two months ago.

My appt turned out great, and I said yes to the first dress pictured. I love how simple it is, very much my style and I like the idea that I could dress it up with fun hair/makeup/accessories.

BUT, the 2nd dress pictured was the runner up dress and I keep looking at pictures and thinking I should have chosen that one!!! It has the romantic lace sleeves I always saw myself wearing, and it’s got a more bridal feel than the first one. I’m just so lost!!! HELP!!!

PS: A couple things to consider, the 2nd dress is $500 more than the first. Our venue is a vintage ballroom. Wedding is in October.

I think they both look beautiful on you!!! But if you haven't bought any yet I would definitely go with the one your heart is telling you to pick! And then delete all traces of the other one from your phone and don't look at dresses because dress regret is real (it has taken me a long time to get over mine but I do love it!)

I already purchased the first one. It’s a David’s bridal dress though so I’ve heard you can exchange dresses??? Idk I’m so torn. I like different things about both of them!

I love the 2nd dress. Its your day girl. Pick what makes u happy. What makes u comfortable. Don't end up at your wedding hating what u picked.

I'd call and ask about a return I got mine at DB too and they told me it was a final sale (it wasn't on sale either Smiley sad ) so I would double check before you go a different route. They are both beautiful though! If you like the sleeves have you thought about a shaw or something (I can't think of what they are called) for the wedding and take it off for the reception?

I think they're both beautiful, and you look beautiful in both. Trust your gut, if you keep thinking about the second one, it doesn't hurt to go back to David's to ask about their exchange policy and try it on one more time.

If I had to choose, I would go with the 2nd dress, but I just LOVE lace, but I don't think you could go wrong with either!

If you cannot return or exchange the dress, there are lace jacket options that can be added and look like part of the dress. I attached a picture of one, and it buttons in the back. It is a picture from when I tried on dresses and not the one I actually got.

It’s definitely a possibility! I was actually considering doing an off the shoulder chiffon sleeve with the first dress, since I really also loved the idea of off the shoulder sleeves.

I just had a dress regret situation and I ended up getting a new one! Everyone loved my dress but it didn't feel like me so I went an got a new one. I'm really happy/relieved I did. I would call DB and see what their return policy is. If not, you could sell it before you get the alterations and take a little loss. Or if your budget his some wiggle room you could do one for the ceremony/one for the reception! Be sure to post and update what you did!!

I think you have to go with the one your heart is leaning towards! Both are beautiful. I would call DB and see if you could exchange it/what your options are. If #2 is a possibility, then I would go with that one. Love the bodice and sleeves!

I just want to say congrats on the twin girls and already trying on dresses.

You look great in both so follow your heart. I saw a PP which advised the jackets and shaws. That may be a way to add the sleeves you want. Might be an idea if they won't exchange your dress.

You look beautiful in both, but I love the second one. I love the detail and I'm a sucker for lace! Go with the dress that makes you happiest, the one you can't imagine yourself wearing anything else.

I think the dress you bought is really pretty on you! I saw your comment, and I do love the idea of an off the shoulder sleeve being added! I always love that on a dress, it’s so romantic. There’s so much you can do with that dress! A belt maybe, and you could definitely go all out with your hair and makeup! And it’s such a simply beautiful dress that you can also jazz it up with your headpiece/veil too!

Like PP have said, go with which one has your heart. Call DB and see if you can exchange it and if not, I was just there this weekend and my MOH (I'm also her MOH) bought her dress from DB and they have this new thing that's not a shaw, but it's more like a necklace type thing that adds the illusion of sleeves and then it had a little piece of bling in the back. It's really hard to explain and I dont have a picture because she ended up going with a different dress with sleeves, but that could always be an option if your DB has some of those... or they were telling her that you always add lace sleeves. Apparently it's not hard... so you have options!

I think the first dress is far more flattering. Go with your initial gut feeling and stick with it. Then delete all pictures of any other dress. If it's lace you want look into a lace veil. There are a number of etsy shops with beautiful, inexpensive lace veils

Since you won’t be able to return it most likely... jack the dress up with a lace bolero, bling belt and a lacy veil...
