Only you know how much you can afford to spend on a dress. There is no right or wrong answer. I spent $2k on my Eddy K gown before alterations.

It is up to you and what you want to spend like the PP said. Mine was $800 and my budget was $1000 max. I would have splurged a bit more to my dream dress but not a lot. Also, watch where you are shopping as some stores will start in the thousands. Some dresses can be $200 and some can be $20,000 pending the style and the designer or other factors. Some more affordable places to check are david's bridal, ieie.com or azzazie.

I agree with PP's that only you can decide the right budget for your dress. I spent $650 on my first dress, returned it and purchased a different one for $350.

As PP said, you’re the only one who can determine if your dress budget is too much/too little. I got my dress for $300 at a sample sale this past summer (originally a $2k dress). I personally couldn’t justify spending more than $1000, but then again, the dress wasn’t as important to me as other aspects of the wedding. It’s all about what your personal priorities are.Wedding dress prices 1

You’ll find many options in the $2500/$3000 range. I spent about 2k after alterations.

My first one was about 1200 from David's Bridal, but it was a designer gown. My second one was about 1400 without alterations. Honestly, it's up to you how much you're comfortable with spending. You can also check preowned sites to see if you can get a great deal on a designer gown.

Mine was $1400 without alterations. I bought my dress at a smaller shop where I live.

To echo PP’s, only you can decide if it’s within your budget. I got (what I think) is a beautiful gown for $1.4k without alterations. I haven’t gotten it back yet but here’s a pic of the sample.

I tried on a lot of dresses in the $1k range and was able to find some really beautiful gowns.

Definitely depends on your budget and how much you yourself are willing to spend. I haven't even been dress shopping and I'm dying to go but I also have a little less than 2 years for my wedding.

My dress was 299, alterations were about 200. I had up to 1000 if I wanted, but I didn't want to spend that on a dress i'd wear just once.

My dress was $1,500 from a bridal boutique near me but I will still need minor alterations so I'm hoping to stay under $2k

I'm looking at dresses on ETSY. They are all less than 1k. I would suggest going to a store just to get fitted and try on similar styles, then order a similar dress online. You can also get used or discounted dresses online or at stores. You just have to hunt around. "Say Yes to the Dress" is a marketing scam and for snooty rich people that have money to blow. You can feel beautiful in a paper bag. It's up to you Smiley smile

I spent $500ish on my dress and still need alterations. The thing is, I spent so little because it's not that important to me. I know it's for one day and I wanted to feel comfortable in my decision financially. Spending any more, I would've been disappointed in myself. I made the right choice for myself. That's what you need to do - decide what feels right for you.

My mom gave me a budget of $2,000. She said the average price of a wedding dress in 2018 was $1,600 and gave me $400 for “inflation” (she’s a strange one LOL). I ended up getting my dress, veil, and hairpiece for $2,060. And then my grandmother ended up paying for it anyways lol (but that’s besides the point). My dress was originally $1,550 but it was 10% off, my veil was $465 and my hairpiece was $215 but those were both 20% off so I ended up coming in under budget which I’m surprised about because I normally have more expensive taste. Also included a picture of the dress, veil, and hairpiece!Wedding dress prices 9
