Has anyone had success with buying a Wedding Dress ONLINE and if so, where? Or any online websites to stay away from would be greatly appreciated. THANKS1

I used BestBridalPrices.com. I have very mixed feelings. It was a U.S. company, not a Chinese knock-off. I got a real dress with the designer label.

But it didn't fit AT ALL. The tailor believed that this was a dress that had already been altered. He found pins in it. Plus, it was SEVEN inches too big on top, and three inches too small on bottom. I have a normal hourglass plus-sized figure with a large butt, and a large bust. What ON EARTH size woman is so much bigger on top and so much smaller on bottom?

So, either the dress was manufactured weird, or my tailor was right and I was sold a returned dress at a new dress price. I'll never know.

I can't give you any personal advice, but I've only ever heard bad things. When it works out for someone, they're one in a million.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I have heard some horror stories. If you are worried about price you can try DB they usually have decent sales or even a no-name place (I know we have a few places in the mall/shopping centers) that have pretty dresses that are not a big name brand, but at least that way you can try them on.

As far as the no-name places I bought a formal dress at one for a cruise I was on and I think the dress was $70 or so. I know that they also had white/wedding type dresses. This was the one I picked.

DHGate is usually good about representing their products, you can always tell the originals from the fakes if the picture looks like something you've seen on DB or another bridal site. Grace Karin made my last gown I bought and the size was perfect and it looked exactly like the photograph. Her company's user name on DHGate is pj_fashion

DHgate is actually well known for scams. So is JJsHouse. Try davids online, or quickgowns, or simply bridal

@Jackie, I've never had a problem with them, perhaps it could be that I only order from one designer because I love her stuff so much.

Thanks for the feedback. I think this is super helpful to me, as well as to other ladies thinking about it. I had bought one 10 years ago online, and had no problems...... Of course I can’t remember where?

You can do searches right here on WW, of horror stories of people who order their wedding gowns from DHgate. There is always some difference in how a wedding gown is constructed versus a normal outfit.

Also, I’m not really worried about the Name brand. I wish they would just show a picture of “their version” of the dress instead of the original.

I got my dress from www.dreamprom.com. I didnt have any issues with them at all. at purchase I told them I wanted my train (and bow) seperate from the dress. (Im on my 3rd marriage so I got a short dress that I can use again). They obliged. I had several questions and they responded within 24 hours. The tailors are in China. I got the dress I paid for and it looks like the picture on the website. I went to Davids Bridal and didnt find a long dress as pretty or as cheap as my dress (see link) http://www.dreamprom.com/awesome-sheathcolumn-strapless-kneelength-lace-wedding-dresses-p-301797590.html

I bought mine from www.houseofbrides.com (US company), after trying on 30-40 gowns in stores and knowing exactly what I wanted. It fit very well, with very little alterations and I was thrilled with it as soon as I tried it on. It was as Mary's Bridal gown, and good quality, especially at $289.

My MOH ordered her dress from www.thewasonline.com, after we tried on a zillion dresses at their brick & mortar store in Phoenix. It was $133. Many of their BM gowns can be ordered in white...something DB will not do. Just an option if you are looking for something less formal and want to save some bucks.

I only have a few pics on my PC at work, but here's one that shows both.

I used bestbridalprices.com, as well. I had a great experience. Definitely a new dress and it fit perfectly except in the length (but then I'm 5'1). The dress was not much cheaper than a salon, about $100 less. However, they through in about $300 in freebies: veil, headpiece, shoes, etc.

It's good to hear good news and things do actually work out. I have to say, I'm not the biggest fan of DB..

I'm using lightinthebox. I haven't ordered yet but I hadn't found exactly what I was looking for on any other site or in store. My bridesmaids will be ordering from there as well.

Lightinthebox is one of the Chinese knock-off companies, Kayleigh, so beware.

I'm having the same dilemma! I found a dress that I just LOVE on ESTY. I have communicated with the woman in China that custom makes the dresses. But I haven't gotten myself to commit to ordering it yet? Her online reviews are great, but with the horror stories I just am not sure what way to go!

I'm thinking I'm going to take my chances. I'm going to wait a few months and make sure the website doesn't disappear, and hope that my muffin top does in the mean time. Smiley smile

Bestbridalprices.com Has a store location in the States and that are not knockoffs. I never personally bought a dress but have done some research. They have tons of stuff to choose from. I won't buy online because too scared! Good luck finding a dress!

I'm absolutely in love with the dress I found online. I can't find anything similar anywhere else. I know it's risky but I'm just going to take my chances. For $160 its a risk I'm willing to take. If it turns out badly I'll be running down to JC Pennys for a white sundress
