Wedding day/honeymoon hair - AA/Natural styles

Rita, on August 4, 2012 at 12:17 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hi everyone,

Sorry if there are already posts on this, but I didn't see anything recent. I have natural short/medium hair, and I have NO idea what to do with it on the wedding day. My hair doesn't hold up well to humidity, and since the wedding is in FL I think straightening it would be a bad idea. Also, my hair was really damaged last time I straightened it. I want something that is going to look beautiful on the wedding day and then be stress free for the honeymoon (we are leaving the next day). I have been thinking about a sew-in but I'm not sure how that will hold up on a beach for a week after the wedding. Then I was thinking to just leave it natural, but I don't know if I want to have to "fight" with it during the honeymoon, lol! Any suggestions? I'd really love to hear from someone who has been there done that! I'm going to FL in a few weeks, so I need to figure something out for the hair trial by then!

Thanks!

Crochet braids would be a good option. There are lots of youtube vids and you can just google it to see pics.

@Thanks Donna R...I have never heard of crochet braids so I'll check them out.

P.S. I'm from FL originally, and I love the weather. I actually miss the humidity sometimes, but it is nothing to mess with when it comes to straightening hair!

I have natural hair and live in FL so I understand the concerns with the humidity. I'm wearing my hair natural for the wedding. I haven't straightened it in almost a decade not going to start now. I wear my hair down a lot and just use something with a lot of control. My curls are like the first picture. These are the looks I was thinking about doing. There are tons of the things you can do. Braids, twist all will look amazing! Rock your natural locks!

There is an entire thread pages long about this very topic right here http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/27873/chocolate-brides-hair-question

I am having a destination wedding and me personally I am doing a lace front for my wedding day and then having my hair braided underneath so I can take that bad boy off and go scuba diving!

I would say weave it up but thats just because i love weave lol

and i also would suggest a lace front or one done on a stocking cap so that you can take it off and enjoy the honeymoon without fighting it. Maybe braid it pretty underneath so that you could just touch it up day to day and go.. Smiley smile

I don't have good hair advice, but I'd say make sure you find a good make-up person too. I know all of these Florida gals have no issues with the humidity, but they have had time to get their skincare regime together. I was there for a week and after the first few days, you could see the breakouts on my skin from across the street, and my skin is usually tolerable in Boston. I got my e-pics done and the wonderful make-up artist made my skin look flawless!
