Wedding day timeline

Alex, on February 29, 2020 at 2:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
So wedding day timeline.
I have no idea where to begin. We will have one BM & one MOH for our wedding party, so just two people. Our ceremony is set for 2pm and our reception/cocktail hour is set for 4pm (but I might need to move this up to 3pm). Distance between the two locations is about a 5-10min drive.

Vendors: caterer, photographer, DJ (good friend that will be attending the ceremony also), hair/makeup artist, bartender (provided with reception hall rental), pastry chef for wedding cake (my MOH), and maybe a day-if coordinator.
Any suggestions? Bonus points if you can show me your wedding timeline for reference! 😊

I don’t think there should be a two hour wait between especially if there is less than a 10 min distance. What’s the reason for the large gap? Are you having a cocktail hour ?

You want to think about how long the ceremony is, and if your photos will be before or after the ceremony, and who all will be involved in this- between the party, parents, other family, etc
Then if you’re offering any kind of cocktail hour.
For example, we expect our ceremony to take 30 mins approx., and we want to do it in the evening. So if the ceremony starts at 4:30, ends at 5, and we want to do photos, we are allowing an hour of photos after the ceremony while other guests head to the reception for cocktail hour.So ceremony 4:30-5, photos/cocktail hour 5-6, then food and first dances, etc !

Hey Alex! I suggest you start at the end and work your way backward!

While working backward, you can slot in all the different times you want/need things to happen. This WeddingWire article is very informative and also has a sample timeline you can use - 9 Wedding Day Timeline Rules Every Couple Should Follow.
