Wedding day heel height?!?

meagan, on November 14, 2017 at 12:36 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 36

Ladies I need some advice. So the company that I bought my dress from called today and said they need my shoe height by Friday because of dress alterations and what not... Well I haven't even picked out a shoe my weddings in June (idk a shoe was just the last thing on my mind right now) So.. I'm wondering if you ladies are wearing a heel even if it's just for the ceremony how high are you gonna go (of course not 6inch) but I'm curious. I don't usually wear heels so I want to be comfortable and I don't plan on wearing them the entire night just for the ceremony and pictures. I'm 5"2 and my FH is 6"3 (the only reason I'm wearing a heel in the first place.)

As always thanks in advance!!!(:

Tbh, I'm not a "heels" girl. I have a couple pair that I wear on occasion but typically I'm more of a flip flops, boots, or tennis shoes girl. Lol I'm wearing Kate Spade x Keds glitter sneaks. Nobody is going to see my feet anyways lol

Same!! And those are what I wanted to wear for the reception!! But like I said my FH is a whole 13 inches taller so I don't want to look like a little shrimp next to him at the alter or in our pictures lol AND all my bridesmaids are taller than me! :/

I'm 5'2" and my DH is 6' so I was excited to wear 5 inch heels. My MOH/twin told me I looked like a stripper and shamed me into returning them. I ended up settling for a pair of 2.5 inch heels from Blue by Betsey Johnson. I love heels and they were SO comfortable!

I am not a heel girl so I picked these. I think you shouldn't wear heels if you normally don't. I would want the pics to reflect our true selves which would be the cuteness of yalls height difference. But if you want to wear heels decide on a height and tell them that and just shop for shoes in that heel height later.

I'm not a huge fan of heels but I find that 2.5" heels aren't so bad and that's what I would like to wear for my ceremony and pictures. I just think a little heel does wonders for how I carry myself. I haven't bought my wedding shoes yet, but the only time I've worn heels I haven't hated they've been about 2.5" so I'm going to aim for that. I'm changing into flat sandals for the reception though

I would tell them no heel so they can make your dress for that height so you don't trip over your dress after you take off the heels.

You're not alone. This is pretty common. I wasn't even allowed come in to be fitted for the dress till i had my shoes to bring with. They don't want to have to alter it twice

I find this request from the company odd. Usually shoes are needed when getting alterations. Otherwise they should have you come in with your shoes to be measured hollow to hem, if your dress is a custom length. That being said, my shoes have a 2.3" heel. Do not tell them you are wearing flats and then wear heels for the ceremony, your dress will be too short.

I will probably wear my old chunky heel Kenneth Coles. They have mysteriously become vintage since I bought them (20 years ago). I wore them comfortably all night at my sister's wedding then and I'm a little hopeful I can pull them out of the closet at my dad's and slip them on like Cinderella.

Ah date twin!!! In such a similar situation right now. Going to be scheduling my first alteration appointment this month or next but nervous because I don't have my shoes yet and I know I will need them before!! Only thing is I love high heels so I need to buy a pair now as the height may vary!

I originally bought 4 inch heels to wear for the ceremony but then purchased 2 inch heels. I stood in the 4 inch heels while the seamstress was doing alterations and was so uncomfortable so I switched it up and I'm glad I did. Now I won't have to worry about swaying back and forth during the ceremony because my feet hurt lol

I'm not a heel person. My FH's one wish is to see me in heels. I am 5'7" and he thinks me in heels is sexy. So, I have been training my feet/legs to walk in 3in heels. But, I have a pair of ballerina slippers as backup.

I have purchased a pair of 1.5" heels. I wanted to wear flats but everyone bullied me into wearing some kind of heel and this was my compromise. I don't need to wear heels, FH is 6'3" and I'm 5'8" so I don't feel like I needed anything to make me taller than I already am. I just want to be comfortable.

Ok, so I literally just bought a pair of shoes, that I hope are comfortable I am waiting for them to arrive (I ordered online because Macy's didn't have them in stock. ) they're sparkly with a block heel and I believe they hover around 3 inches. I am also getting food pads as to help with the shock absorption of the foot and taping my third and fourth toe together. But I love my dress and don't want to lose all the stuff at the bottom and I don't want it bustled. edited to include picture

Mine were very low. Remember, you'll take them off at some point and if you wear higher heels, you either have to have a 2nd bustle put in, or trip over your gown.

Two inches to two and a half is a good heel height. Especially if you're wanting to dance with them on. Even if not, think of all the time you're going to be standing in them for pictures. Much taller & your feet will probably be hurting!
