Wedding date decision

Nikki, on August 20, 2017 at 9:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 41

How did you pick a wedding date ? Based on venue or something that was meaningful to you? Or was it just a random date? We were going to do the anniversary of when we found out we were pregnant but I feel that takes away the excitement of the original dates purpose if that makes sense also might be tacky.

We wanted a spring wedding, April was considered off season so we saved $12/pp, so we chose the last date in April the venue had open.

I'm a number geek. We are eloping in the mountains 8-10-2018 (palindrome) & (8+10=18) and then having a reception the following weekend 8-18-18 (also a palindrome).

Our dating anniversary, also proposal anniversary, doesn't land on a weekend for years, so that was out of the question.

If there is a date that means something to you and you can get a venue booked that day go for it. But I picked my date based on what the venue had open. I originally wanted it oct 28 because it's nice weather and In between my two kids birthdays (sept 28 and nov 28) but I had to change my day because my FHs cousin sent out a save The date for that same day. I just picked what the venue had available in August because I didn't want to do it in either sept or nov because of my kids, didn't want to do it in dec because of christmas... And I surely didn't want to wait all the way until 2018 lol

Atleast 80% of FHs family is from OOT. his mother lives 14 hours from us. Having her there was more of how we decided. Summers in NC suck, and she is a teacher in VT, so that was not happening. She gets spring break around Easter so we opted for a Easter wedding. All of our guest love they have an extra day to come here. Plus, my company gives us 2 weeks off a year, they also said it should be around easter next year so that helped too

We wanted a summer 2018 wedding with no particular date in mind. When I called our venue after our tour there was only one Saturday left so we didn't have much of a choice.

We picked a time that was long enough for financial timing, then chose the fall, decided on November, kept a date in mind, then became lucky that our venue had that date open.

We had a date range in mind based on when we thought we might be able to pay for everything with an ideal date in mind too but we ultimately went with what the venue had available in our date range.

We definitely wanted early summer and my FH likes the number 22 - it's his birth date in March. But June 22nd got booked right out from under us, and the only Friday in June left was 29 (back in February 2017), so we booked it.

I didn't really want 29, as my parents' anniversary is June 28, and so is one of my close cousins, but now I'm honored to have the day right after my parents - they are a great example of lasting love and were married for 48 years this June.

My wedding date is our anniversary date. I got lucky it's on a Sunday the year we get married. I picked my venue that had that day open because I refused to have a different date. Lol

Seasonal pricing, weekend, and venue availability. No holiday weekends. We knew a couple specific months that we liked, wanted a Saturday due to travel, and then it was up to what the venues had available. We looked at a bunch of venues and gave ourselves at least a year to plan so we weren't rushed.

We originally wanted 10/7/17 because I wanted the month and day to add to the year (numbers geek here) and it was close to our anniversary, but after doing some research and realizing that off season would save us a decent amount of money, plus wanting more time to save up, we pushed it back to 4/14/18. Worked out great since he didn't propose until 8/2/16 so when we started looking at venues it was so early that every place had our date available. I'm glad I changed it from 10/7/17, I know 4 people who have their wedding then! Also, we wouldn't have been able to afford the venue we chose if we didn't have an off season date.

We picked our date based on the weather and our honeymoon. I don't like to sweat (who does) so we picked September and we're going to Maine for the seafood best time

Sunday of labor day weekend because Sunday was $1K cheaper than Saturday or Friday, and guests wouldn't have to rush to work on Monday because it's a holiday for most people.

We wanted a spring wedding when it was starting to get warmer but not hot yet, so we looked at the calendar and picked March 18 based on abilities we had to take vacation and honeymoon, etc. We had backup dates in case our desired venues were booked, but we didn't have any issues since we had 16 months of planning time before the wedding.

I chose my date because I wanted to get married on the same date my uncle and aunt did. They were very special to me. They practically raised me and they both passed away. They got married on 8/21...but 8/21 was on a Monday and I wanted a Saturday. My FH birthday is September and we didnt want to have a wedding and a birthday to deal with. So we figured the next 21st date would be in October. Even though I coudnt get married in the same month, I got the same day and will be married at the same time they married.

I wanted to do a meaningful date like our dating anniversary, a grandparent's birthday or wedding anniversary (only one living grandparent between the two of us), etc. But we wanted an outdoor wedding not on a holiday/event weekend more. In Seattle, that pretty much limited us to the last two weekends in July (bc summer weather is not consistent before July 5 or after August 12), and Seafair (big festival here) is the first weekend in August. Our venue was available on July 29. So that was our wedding day.

May was the first month that came to mind for both of us. Our venue had one Saturday left so we took it
