Wedding date decision

How did you pick a wedding date ? Based on venue or something that was meaningful to you? Or was it just a random date? We were going to do the anniversary of when we found out we were pregnant but I feel that takes away the excitement of the original dates purpose if that makes sense also might be...

We wanted a fall wedding, and wanted enough time to get married and go on our honeymoon before I started year two of grad school so the decision was easy for us!

We have kids in school and wanted to do it while they were out on summer break and because I want an outside ceremony. June is full of bdays in both our families, july is our oldest birthday so August it was. He liked 8/18/18 but the venue we chose were already booked for that date. They told us we could do the next day a sunday and it would be cheaper. Sold it cheaper hench wedding date 8/19/18

We started dating on 01/05/14, got engaged on 02/05/16, and got married on 08/05/17. We chose our wedding date because we wanted to stick the the 5th theme.

Based on the venue. I knew I wanted October which is my favorite month! FH knows I'm all about the fall so he was completely on board. The actual day had no significance until now. Smiley smile

    We took into account:

    1. Time of year we wanted

    2. Length of time we wanted to be engaged.

    3. What would be best for having as many potential OOT guests as we will probably have.

    4. What kind of wedding did we want? (Eveing dinner, cocktail, cake and punch, brunch?)

We finally took all the important factors to us and decided a holiday weekend was best because may only give us a little over a year we decided to go for labor day instead. We preferred sunday since less people had to take off work, and lucky all the venues we visited had our date available, but we were open to also doing friday or thursday if the place was absolutely perfect.

We both love the fall. We got engaged in December and thought 10 months would enough time to plan. October is perfect weather in New York...not too hot or too cold

My FH and I have been friends for about 10 years. He got married and didn't hang out with our group of friends for a few years. I had heard that him and his wife had gotten a divorce and I had the year before as well, but we had not spoke. On September 15th 2014, I posted something on FB and he commented on it. We started texting each other that day and have been inseparable since.

So when we were discussing wedding dates, I said hey lets look to see just for the hell of it what day Sept 15th 2018 falls on. And it was a Saturday!! Our date was picked right then. Smiley smile So the day we get married it will be 4 years ago to the day that started it all Smiley smile

We picked October because that is our favorite time of year and it is generally good whether around here. I was trying to get a date closer to Halloween since that is my favorite holiday and FH suggested the 13th because our anniversary would fall on Friday the 13th where we usually binge watch Jason movies when it happens. Our venue had the date available so we booked it.

I have always dreamed of having a early summer wedding so FH let me have it. I had to decide between May and June and well.. those are very busy months for my family and FH's family. We've got his birthday, his sisters birthday, my graduation, his sisters senior send-off party, his brothers birthday, memorial day weekend, his sisters graduation, his parents anniversary, then our ONLY possible wedding date... then the next weekend is fathers day, then my birthday and then June 30 its pretty hot down here so that was out. Its just got to be what is it is, and that is how we picked our date exactly 300 days in advance.

We both wanted a fall wedding and wanted it on a Sunday so we just picked any available date they had. I'm not a person who gets sentimental about dates.

We got engaged in February and originally wanted an October wedding. Then we realized we would not be able to save enough by that time to have the kind of wedding we really wanted as well as to properly host our guests. Waiting almost 2 years was not something that appealed to either of us and since we weren't really fans of having a Winter wedding (December is holidays, January is my birthday, March is his), we split the difference and selected April. Perfect season for our DW spot of New Orleans as well and attending JazzFest for our honeymoon!

For the actual date we were hoping to marry on either the 20th, 28th or 31st (special dates for us/our families) and to be married on a Saturday or Sunday, so the 28th became the winner. Plus I how April 28, 2018 looks on paper. Nice continuity to the sound and seeing the double 8s.

Venue availability mostly, and then family/wedding party availability. Ours is a destination wedding, so we had to consider other people's schedules a bit more than if we were getting married in our hometown.

We knew we wanted a fall wedding (preferably in November) and then realized that the 3rd was an available Saturday. My parents were married on October 3rd and FHs parents were married on June 3rd. So we figured if we didn't choose the 3rd it may be bad luck! haha.

We did the math on how much time we needed to afford the wedding we wanted. That's how we picked our date. I also wanted it to be in the fall, and on the plus side after the fact, its the last weekend of having a longer day (fall forward happens the night of our wedding) so people get an extra hour to party or sleep or both!

We chose the 11th because it falls in the middle of my two week break from grad school. It was perfect to be able to have the week before and after off so I wouldn't have to worry about missing class, I would just be missing my internship.Unfortunately, it is an extremely busy time of the year for FH's job, but it was what ended up being the best available option.
