Wedding Dance order

When do you typically dance your 1st dance, mother/son dance, and father/daughter dance?

I've always seen the couple's 1st dance right after the wedding party introductions, but what about the other special dances, are those done right away or later on?

Most of the couples I photograph tend to do the father/daughter and mother/son dances immediately after the first dance. However, you can do these whenever you'd like (and a lot of couples have been forgoing them entirely).

For my wedding, we didn't have a first dance but we did have parent dances later on in the evening.

I have no idea what is "traditional" or "typical" but here's what we're probably doing, just because its what makes sense to me:

    Dinner

    Cake Cutting

    Our First Dance

    Bridal Party Dance

    Father Daughter Dance

    Mother Son Dance

It really is up to you. We decided to do our 1st dance as soon as we were made our grand entrance as man and wfe. We figured everyone was already up and clapping and watching us. Then we said our thanks yous, had dinner, had the toasts. After the toasts we did a combined Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance. Personally I think those get boring for guests rather quickly, so we combined them.

Mellojean, I like the idea of doing the first dance before dinner when you make your entrance. I agree that doing all of the dances together can get boring for the guests.

We are doing our First Dance right after we are introduced. Before dinner.

    We aren't doing a Father/Daughter Dance or Mother/Son Dance.

The other reason I wanted to dance before dinner is that I can be messy and eat too much. Last thing I wanted was a bigger belly or stained dress. lol
