Wedding cake?

We are going to do a buttercream icing. Still not sure on the flavor, anything but chocolate. Have you had your cake tasting yet?

I would suggest scheduling a couple tastings with bakers in your area. From there, you and your future spouse will find what flavors you both consistently like. My husband and I found that we both really liked lemon after doing all of our tastings. Buttercream icing will usually be cheaper. Fondant is used for sculpting specific shapes. As for the tiers, that’s going to depend on your guest count. Bakers are very knowledgeable about how many tiers and what sizes you will need. Get quotes from the bakers and don’t feel pressured to sign with anyone right after a tasting.

We are doing a spice cake with vanilla buttercream… We went for our taste testing and OMG I kid you not .. literally the BEST cake and icing I’ve ever tasted in my life! I’m hoping people don’t want it so I can eat more of it 😂😂

This was a fun part for us, flavors are Rasberry, Lemon and Vanilla. Cake tasting was delicious!

I agree that doing a tasting is the best way to figure this out. Most places won't charge for them (and if they do then I'd cross them off your list of potential vendors). It's a good way to figure out what you and your future spouse like from the actual baker since they'll be the one making the cake, and two different bakers can have the same flavor but they could taste different. The baker will be able to advise on how much cake you'll need, cost, decorative options, etc. as well. My fiancé and I did ours where I picked one flavor I liked and he picked one he liked. If you want to do a third flavor then you could both come to an agreement on that one.

You can do each tier a different flavor!

maybe you can choose one flavor and your spouse choose another and see if they go together?

we did a 3 tier cake with the bottom tier being mango and the top two being strawberry

We did a pound cake with butter cream icing. You can do different flavors for each tier.

We're having four tiers. The bottom and 2nd tiers are a vanilla cake with white chocolate buttercream. The 3rd layer is a red velvet with cream cheese frosting. And the top (which is just for us) is a chocolate chip cake with white chocolate buttercream

Have you had your cake tasting yet, that will definitely help if you can have one. Do you and your fiance enjoy cake, what are some of your faves? I d think about things you both really love and try to incorporate it into your cake. My absolute favorite cake is strawberry shortcake so we are doing that and his is cheese cake so we are having little mini cheesecakes too. I love when weddings really reflect little details about the couple, its fun to learn something new about a friend or family member. Happy planning!
