Wedding cake stand

Lynn, on May 9, 2017 at 9:24 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

Hi, Our venue doesn't have a cake stand and the bakery wants a lot to rent their cake stands. Besides, I saw them and wasn't impressed. We have a round three their cake with the bottom tier being 10". Does anyone have any ideas other than the covered styrofoam? Thanks

Go on Offer up or amazon to get one. Or buy a round piece of wood from home depot and paint it.

Just make sure wherever you buy from is a stable stand... the ones like @Heather bought, while very beautiful can tip depending on the cake size you have.

ETA: Adding, I have seen this happen where I work part time at a banquet hall, it's not pretty...

Just make sure it is big enough. I think that my baker said if the bottom tier is 8 inches, the cake board will be 10 and that I should have a 12 in cake stand or something along those lines.

Go to HomeGoods. I found mine for $30 (rental was $150). Or Michales and download the 40% coupon

We ended up renting ours from the bakery, but I did explore options to try and avoid it. Michael's has some good options, as well as Oriental Trading and Party City.

I saw a few at hobby lobby 12 & 14 inch for about $25 - that was with the 50% off "his&hers"products. They always have 40% off one item at regular price.

I made my own! Bought the stuff at ikea, wasn't super cheap but cheaper than buying that many.

They seem sturdy. I won't have a giant heavy cake, just small desserts.
