Wedding Cake Ideas - Pound Cake?

My fiance is super picky about cake - he doesn't really like "normal" cake, but he does like pound cake and angel food cake. Do you think we could do a pound cake wedding cake? What kind of icing would be best? I would still want it decorated like a traditional wedding cake. Has anyone done a pound cake or angel food cake wedding cake before?

We are early in the planning stages, so nothing is too set in stone yet - just trying to get the ball rolling! I keep going back on forth on whether or not to have a full size multi-tier cake for everyone, or just a small cake for us and then cupcakes for everyone else.

I could be wrong, but I think pound cake would be way to heavy to stack in tiers. It would be really tasty though! Maybe you could do iced pound cake decorated with fresh flowers or berries on different heights of cake stands?

Look on Pinterest...they have "naked" pound cakes for wedding cakes and also pound cakes that are tiered.

I would go to some bakeries for cake tastings before you make any decisions. Your fiancé doesn't like "normal cake", but cakes/fillings/icings vary greatly from bakery to bakery. He may find an option he loves. You could also do a traditional wedding cake, and have a special groomsman cake for him

One of the bakeries I looked into had a pound cake option on their wedding cake tasting. It is definitely doable in a tiered cake according to them.

I think pound cake should be doable, but angel food cake may be tough b/c of how light it is. . . .

I think pound cake is usually glazed (if anything) so that it doesn't get too soggy.
