Wedding band help! Don't know what to do

Alecia, on May 13, 2020 at 8:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 23
Okay so me a FH have 6 months to go until our wedding and with places starting to open back up, we went back out to start looking at wedding bands again. I have a very special and unique engagement ring that I'm finding I'm going to be very particular in what I find to be a band to go with it. It's been difficult to find something I personally really like that meets my criteria. Well when we went out today, I found a enhancer that in my mind goes great with it! But fiance isn't as on board as I am and doesn't consider it a wedding band like he is traditionally used to. Im really stuck and confused as to what I should do because its my favorite one that I've tried on! He told me that while he isn't a fan of it and would probably prefer a basic band, that it's up to me and if I love it, that's all that matters. I love that he cares for me enough to let me make the final decision but I also really want him to like it.

So I wonder, how many of you let your FHs opinion guide you in what band to get.

For me, a wedding band is significant in the piece that says we got married, that our lives are now joined together and the importance behind that. Maybe I'm just over thinking it though. Would you guys consider an enhancer like this an actual wedding band or something that you buy later on in life to jazz it up? Any opinions appreciated!!Wedding band help! Don't know what to do 1

I’d consider this a wedding band. Sounds like you haven’t liked anything but this one and I think it fits very well with your ring!

Get the one you want. He’s not the one who has to wear it every day. Plus it’s gorgeous. My husband convinced me to get one that was more expensive that matched my E ring better. I was trying to be frugal but glad I got the one I really wanted. So I did listen to him but for a different reason.

Honestly, I was looking at bands, and most of them were hidden by the shape of my ring. We started considering two bands - then the jeweler showed us enhancers. I liked the look because it actually looked like more than just a hidden band near my ring, and honestly...I'm really happy with my decision. I got to pick a ring that highlighted my halo engagement ring, and I had the rings soldered together to be a single ring. It's not a band in a traditional sense, but it's certainly a wedding ring because you're making it that.

My husband is more traditional too - his band is as plain gold as they can come without any adornments- and he loved the ring because...at the end of the day, it's my ring. I would have loved for him to have a more unique band, but he had an idea of what he wanted and I wanted him to have that. So while it's good for your spouse to like it, I think you should go with what you like. And you can make the whole thing into your wedding band. That's how I'm seeing my ring.Wedding band help! Wow, I really love the way your whole set works together, it's beautiful. Thank you for the helpful advice. I can't stop thinking about the enhancer I found, so it's a tough decision.

I felt that way about that enhancer. When I saw the ring all together, I really loved it. But yeah - if you solder them together then you can treat it like a single ring. If you wouldn't ever want to just wear your wedding band, I would suggest making one elegant ring and get an enhancer. I kind of like that my engagement ring is part of my wedding band- it makes it feel like adding onto the engagement and having them all together.

I love my main ring wayyy too much, I have no intention of soldering them together. I know that I won't always want to wear both together and that I'll want days to be more simple and other days to jazz it up. That's why I'm having a hard time with the band because I don't want it to just be something that sits next to my main ring. I want something to create more attention on my ring and accent it. To be able to wear it just by itself is enough at times.

My FH and I picked out our wedding bands together via amazon, lol. I have a blue diamond center stone and we lucked out and found a blue and white diamond band on amazon that matches it perfectly! His ring is platinum with blue cobalt on the inside so that they coordinate but not overly so.

I love both the band and the ring, but it was a struggle with my ring being so unique to find something that wasn't either terribly expensive or hella fugly. I also wanted a band I could wear without my e-ring because I'm a nurse and I don't always want to risk losing it at work! It could be that your FH wants you to be able to wear just the band sometimes and he doesn't think the enhancer is something that works like that?

Or he could just be a super traditional dude who thinks there's a way for wedding bands to "look" and enhancers are a relatively new thing?

Just remember that while it's nice to have your FH's approval, you are the one who has to wear it the rest of your natural life!

You could always try and enhancer too! My fiancé brought my engagement ring as part of a a set and it’s it’s a similarly shape and style!

Maybe you can try something similar to this... if check Etsy!

This is the one other ring that I found and did like too. It's just hard with some enhancers that they sit right.

That definitely is one of our concerns. Im a dog groomer and currently wear my engagement ring everyday to work but we wanted to get something where I could just wear the wedding band and it still look good on it's own. I have pros and cons to this ring myself, that being one of them that I would still have to go out and buy a simple band to wear at work.

Girl, get you an enso band for work! That's what I'm doing! They're made of silicone and they're super durable and pretty! A whole bunch of my coworkers have them and they all love em!

(once the new wears off from wearing my set that's what I'm going to do! I'm getting him one too so he has ZERO excuse to not have a band on that finger!!)

Oh man. He should want you to have something you like. Maybe he just thinks you should have something nicer? I’m very frugal and kept showing my fiancé $200 plain gold bands. He told me I was basically crazy and I should get something nice. I chose an enhancer before the stay at home orders...and now it is not sold there anymore 😭 I’ve been searching for the perfect band for my oddly shaped ring for FOUR years. Of course, I finally find one before this pandemic and now I can’t get it anymore Smiley sad so now I have to find something similar, even though I looooved the way this one looked. Good luck with your search! Wedding band help! Don't know what to do 9

This goes together so well! Have you thought about possibly getting a sizer that you can put on both rings to keep them in place?

Luckily my FH likes what I choose. It's not an enhancer but looks like one because I am getting two bands (one for each side.) If you got two bands that look like the enhancer, would that make your FH feel better?

Im not really sure what a sizer is, but that sounds like a good idea just to keep them from sliding without the other one without soldering then together. I will look into it, thanks!

That's actually a really good idea too, something that I've begun to consider just so I can get the look I want while him still getting the traditional wedding band feel.

Looks like a wedding band(s) to me! Many women have the band that goes on top and below. It's a specific look and you are the one who has to wear it everyday, so if he's not pitching a fit - get what you want! Smiley smile One question: would you ever be able to wear the bottom part as a "stand alone" wedding band? Like on vacation or going snorkeling or working out? I'm not sure your overall lifestyle but for me it's very important to have a simple band I can wear "anywhere", and I don't feel like that about my ER.

Yeah, I wouldn't be able to wear just the band itself without the top being there and it would look weird without my main ring in the middle. Hence why we are more against it just because of that reason. I'm considering getting two separate small bands that aren't connected to be able to wear at the same time or wear just the one. So I'm still considering. It was a day off thing, I really liked it and am getting tired not being able to find something. I'm thinking I would just be settling if I got this one.

Can you get this one and then a very simple gold band that you can wear during those "anytime" moments? Love your engagement ring. You will figure it out.
