Wearing wedding dress to bars?

Ariel, on April 6, 2018 at 12:21 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33
My fiancé and I are having a small courthouse ceremony. We got lucky and our judge doesn't have a limit of people. There will be about 30 people attending. We are going to take them all to a nice restaurant downtown afterward. We want to go out on the town with some of our guests after dinner (they are all about it). Would it be weird to wear my dress to multiple bars?

Unless it is an untraditional dress I would probably switch to a comfortable white, less “wedding” dress. But girl you do what you feel!!!

This is a photo of the stock dress, so it fits a little weird in the photo.

What type or dress (long, short, mermaid, ballgown) and how expensive is it?

I would be obnoxious to be walking around a crowed bar in a long $2,000+ ball gown, strangers may not respect your dress like you do and could damage it accidentally.

If I was you I would wear it to the ceremony and maybe dinner and then change into something "bar hoping" worthy, like a white cocktail dress. I, personally, don't think its appropriate and would probably double take if I was a regular at the bar.

Thanks for the response! I just posted a photo. It's a high low dress.

Also, it was only $150 at David's Bridal. I love the dress, but I didn't want to spend a ton on a courthouse wedding.

That dress looks fun! I would suggest wearing another dress that's possibly white that is less bridal, but still fun and comfortable. It doesn't have to be costly either.

Yesssss!!! So my venue has 11 or so bars, many of which will be open after my reception ends. I fully intend on visiting every one of them in my ballgown.

I have read some advice of many brides who say they wished they had gone out somewhere in public in the attire the night of. I have been tossing around the same idea, just not sure for us because we dont drink or do the bars. I say go for it!

I think that you could totally wear it! It's not too big for a public place

I’m wearing my big obnoxious dress out to the bars the day after the wedding. We will be having a bar tour. I’m not worried though if it gets ripped or ruined. I just want to have fun in it. I’ll be donating it when it’s over anyways to make gowns for still borns.

FH's friends were already scoping out bars in the are for our "after party". I plan on wearing my dress as long as possible. I can also kinda get away with it because if my dress were another color it would just be a formal dress.

I think you should wear that out! People will know that its a wedding dress but it's not huge ballgown that would be way out of place, and difficult to move around a bar in. That's a really pretty and fun dress too!
