Wearing engagement ring on wedding day

Beverly, on December 8, 2016 at 11:57 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

First, I just have to say you all have been such a help during my engagement! I have learned SO much from all of you and don't think I'm going to be leaving this forum after I get married on Saturday Smiley smile Some of you are very straight forward and that's exactly what I needed when reading the posts for advice someone else would ask. So thank you, lovely brides!

Ok, so the reason for my post is to ask if engagement rings should be worn the day of the wedding. I want to wear both moving forward, but since the wedding ring is the one closest to your heart, does he put the ring on my finger in front of the engagement ring (and then we switch the places after?) or do I keep my engagement ring off that day?

I would really like to have it all done the way it will be on my hand forever during the ceremony, but I can't find a smooth way to do that during the ceremonySmiley smile

I'm wearing my engagement ring on my right hand until he puts the wedding ring on, then switching it to left hand after the ceremony

I did the former - kept my engagement ring on then switched it around after he put the wedding band on.

I wore mine on my right hand during the ceremony and then moved it back to my left hand afterwards.

I'm just going to wear mine like normal, he places it on and then later I'll switch it - I'm having a DW and the last thing I want is to be stressed I'll lose my engagement ring or get it stick on my right hand

I plan to wear mine on the right hand until after the ceremony and then have him switch it.

    You've got a few options!

    - Wear your engagement ring on your other hand during the ceremony

    - Don't wear your engagement ring at all during the ceremony

    - Wear your engagement ring during the ceremony and swap them right after so your wedding band is on bottom!

I had one of my bridesmaids wear my e-ring during the ceremony!

I wore mine on my right hand until after the ceremony. I would try putting it on your right hand if you are planning on doing this. That's how I found out that my right ring finger is 3/4 of a size larger than my left. It took a bit of tugging to get it off.

I had my engagement ring on my right hand and then moved it over after the ceremony. No one noticed but it was something I knew. Looking at our photos I can see it as well during the ceremony.

A bit unorthodox, but my best friend actually had her H put both rings on her during the ceremony, at the same time. So she wasn't wearing her engagement ring at all that day, until the ceremony. Not the way I would do it, but I guess it's another option.

I'm planning on putting the engagement ring and wedding band together for the ceremony and having him put them on together when we exchange rings. I have a ring guard so it would be more difficult to do a quick switch than to just have them together to begin with.

Wear your engagement ring on right hand and move it over after the ceremony is over and you can wear Ering with band. That's how I did it.

I saw a post on here where the officiant incorporates both rings into the ceremony. I thought that was really awesome and am definitely doing that.

Congrats!! Smiley smile I was SO conscious of this topic all throughout wedding planning and I definitely spaced on it the day of. I had so much going on I didn't realize I forgot to move my ring to my other hand (as I planned) until the officiant told my husband to put my band on, I literally said, "oh whoops," and just took my e ring off and let him put the band on and then I put my e ring on top of it, DEFINITELY not how I planned it but it wasn't a big deal, haha. Smiley smile
