We are having trouble choosing a honeymoon destination!

Lala, on August 8, 2019 at 8:32 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

My FH & I have never been out the country before. We are not sure where to go on our honeymoon. Our budget is 3k & We are looking for something all inclusive. I've seen a few places but how could you choose if you never been! we know for sure we don't want to cruise. I picture a beach W/ clear water & a swim up bar. So where is some place that you've vacationed & liked & why? Also who's been to Jamaica or Mexico? What part & how was it?

We're going to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos for 7 nights! The water is turquoise and super clear. Grace Bay Beach has also consistently been ranked the best beach in the world. We're staying in a condo that overlooks the ocean instead of an all-inclusive resort, but there's a lot of all-inclusives down there. I've heard really good things about Beaches, The Sands at Grace Bay, and The Palms!

Good morning Lauren. We want to go to Turks and Caicos but don’t know anyone that’s been there. Are you going based on a recommendation? Where did you find your condo?

I’ve been to Jamaica twice and loved it. Like most of these places you should stay in the resort areas and only use their guided tours for safety purposes. I’ve never been to Mexico.

We started looking into it after reading blogs from some of my favorite travel bloggers. One of my FH's groomsmen has been there and loved it, though! There have also been a few people I know from my current town and hometown that have gone there in the last few months. Everyone that's been has said it's beautiful and so relaxing! We got our condo from HomeAway! I looked at a lot on there, Airbnb, and VRBO. Smiley smile

I've done an all inclusive in the Rivera Maya in Mexico and it was great. Honestly, I think most all-inclusives around the same price point are going to be pretty similar, but that's not a bad thing. We ended up booking our honeymoon at Sandals in Negril, Jamaica, but did a ton of searching (through Costco travel, actually) for all-inclusives. I looked at the Costco ratings, the resort site, and Trip Advisor reviews, filtering on couples, and the time of year we're planning to go.

We just got back from Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios, Jamaica - and loved it! It is adults-only & all-inclusive, and the staff is absolutely wonderful in addition to the beautiful resort. Our budget was a tad above that, but we booked right around 6 months out so I would imagine you might be able to find a better deal!

There is about a 2 hr drive from the airport (sometimes less, due to traffic) but that was actually an interesting opportunity to learn more about the true Jamaican life & people.

They include watersports such as introductory scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, etc. at no add'l charge, and the beach is private so you aren't being hassled by vendors unless you approach the 1-2 set up in a specific area. We were impressed by the food, but you do have to make reservations for their more formal restaurants - just schedule those in upon arrival, and you are good to go!

We went to Cabo, but it wasn't all inclusive. I'd look at Sandals or Secrets for all inclusive! When we went it wasn't for our honeymoon, just a vacation, but it was really fun. We stayed in an oceanfront room at Cabo Villas and had a lot of fun. Our favorite excursion was sailing/snorkeling and a walking food tour and tequila tasting! The beaches were kind of annoying because 24/7 someone was trying to sell you something so we didn't stay on them as much.
