Walkie talkies for destination wedding

Emily, on July 12, 2017 at 7:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Has anyone ever used Walkie talkies for a destination wedding? If so, how well did it work? The wedding is in Freeport, Bahamas. We have been there multiple times and since the hurricane last October the wifi has been touchy, plus I imagine most people will be at the pool or beach during the day. We are considering burner phones, but that option is much more pricey!

Depending on where you're going, you could find yourself in hot water - walkie talkies that are all good in the US may not be in other places due to frequency assignment, and if you're using an illegal frequency that can be quite serious, particularly if it's one used by emergency services or something similar. I wouldn't run the risk - global roaming on phones is pretty cheap these days, or get a local SIM card.

I agree. What's App has worked perfectly in many countries for either calls or texts.

I've never heard of WhatsApp? We always use FB Messanger.

    Where is the wedding?

We went to Greece for our honeymoon and we used FB and Hangouts to communicate with our family.
