We are having our 35th wedding anniversary in April and have decided to have a vow renewal. I have a lot of the planning done, but am looking for ideas for the reception after. I would love to make a fun reception for our family and friends and I'm looking for ideas.

Any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated. Thank you.

Congrats on 35 years!

The traditional gift is coral and modern gift is jade -- you could use those colors for decor.

Maybe a more casual party than the typical wedding reception? Indoor or outdoor games, BBQ, etc.

DH & I renewed our vows for our 20th anniversary (traditional gift is china, so I asked guests to give us their marriage advice in the form of a Chinese fortune cookie).

As one who has just celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary, may I offer my most sincere congratulations (I'm thinking about this vow renewal thing -- maybe in two years). You've seen it all, your commitment has been tested, and you remain intact and in love. That's something to celebrate. You're an inspiration, and I suspect that whatever you plan, your guests will be love your vow renewal. I know I would. Honestly, what you're looking for is one hell of a party. Have a meaningful ceremony, and then give your guests great food, cocktails, and entertainment. Pick a wonderful, meaningful song for a spotlight dance with you and your husband, and watch them wipe away the tears. Honestly, all you need is good will, food, drink, and entertainment. Everything else will take care of itself. Again, congrats!
