Venues not returning email quote request

Marilyn, on August 10, 2016 at 12:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Hi everyone! I've been trying to reach out to several venues requesting more information about their venue, pricing and policy. Only 4 venues have actually contacted me back. Is this common? Did I do something wrong? What would be the next step I should take if the venues do not contact back?

Thank you!

Next step definitely is to call. I prefer email just for the record of it so any pricing they give u over the phone ask for an email detailing it.

If I don't get info back I usually keep moving, but it depends on how you reached out first and how long, it is a busy time for them. If you see one you really want try calling and see if they get back to you

Hi Marilyn, welcome to WW! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters.

How long has it been since you requested information? If they aren't getting back to you within a week, try a different outreach method. If you sent an inquiry using the contact us form on their website, try contacting them through WW, or giving them a call, or sending a follow-up email!

That happened to me too so your not the only one. I would definitely call if you are really interested in a particular venue.

Out of all the vendors I contacted, only 1 gave me a price via email. FH and I visited the other venues. I understand this could pose a problem if it's destination. Have you tried calling them?

I always prefer to make my contact via phone, and follow up via email. It's just too easy for emails to disappear in a hundred inquires they get a day, or accidentally end up in a Spam folder. Just call.

Call them. Also did you send the email through WW or through their actual websites? Try the websites...if you still dont hear --move on.

Wow! Thanks for all the responses! It's been about a week and a half for some of the venues I first contacted. I tried through Wedding Wire first. Maybe I'm just too anxious, but I definitely will take everyone recommendation on trying to call and if that does not work I will move onto another. Thanks again!

Did you tell them your wedding was almost two years away? Many, particularly here in the midwest tend to overlook anything more than a year in advance. I was told by one venue that they would take a small deposit to reserve the date, but they wouldn't even consider doing a contract more than a year in advance. They felt that there was too much time for significant changes to happen both from the stance of the bride and groom and from an economic standpoint for their business. Just saying.......... you have plenty of time.

Definitely call. If you requested a quote through this site it may be that they didnt get it. I've run into this issue before and when I emailed them from my personal account I received responses from most of them.

I have contacted two vendors through WW and they never responded back.

I emailed all my vendors and if I didn't hear back from them within a week I sent a second email, if no response I moved on.

I have just taken it as a sign that they are hard to get a hold of and/or don't need new business and move on. It depends how interested you are in them too. For me, I only heard back from one rabbi and he is now my officiant. I never heard back from any bakeries so I'm going with Sam's Club. Just for example. We don't really have too many vendors though since we eliminated a lot of things.

Having a wedding out of state means if they don't check or don't use their email, I'm not interested. I can't call businesses for personal matters at work during most business' hours. Although sneaking on WW or into personal email is another matter Smiley winking.

9/10 vendors that we contacted only replied back with "let's make an appointment!". It's sales, they want you to come in and speak, if they give you a quote that's the end of it and they may never hear from you again.

Update on my status: booked venue!

Still having a difficult time getting in contact with businesses for my wedding (lighting, bar services, wedding planners, event rentals). I call, email, and leave voicemails, and the businesses do not respond. I'm ok with not doing business with them, but its a very frustrating process for me to research and reach out.
