Venues need to update wedding info!!!

Nareene, on July 27, 2020 at 4:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
It’s been so annoying for venues to send me info on weddings that don’t apply being that we’re in a pandemic which means social distancing. As a bride we are greatly affected with what’s going on as we can’t have our dream wedding. I really wish these venues would update their websites/ information. This is so irritating to say the least.

I know my venue is pretty much unsure and told me they were taking it day by day. Because it’s so uncertain what will happen with Covid, my venue is just going by what the governor says as far as gatherings.

Our venue was just able to host their first event since April last weekend, so they really haven’t known exactly how things were going to go. They are following the state and local health department guidelines and restrictions, which have changed frequently in the past few months. I understand it’s frustrating, but at the same time a lot of work (and/or money since most pay someone to manage it) goes into creating and keeping their websites up to date (if they even have one). Recreating and rewriting everything for the pandemic when finances are tight it’s probably not doable. Most of these venues lost several months worth of business. Websites are good for general information, but I would always reach out directly if you are truly interested do you are getting the most up to date information based on exactly what you are looking for.

I agree that we can't expect venues to constantly update their website information when things are always changing with this COVID situation. Our venue just has a brief statement at the top of the homepage that hasn't been changed since this all started. The best thing to do is reach out to the venue directly. It's not realistic for them to keep changing the info on their website when things are changing day by day.

I definitely get what you’re saying. I’m referring to when I contact a venue they are sending packages for very large weddings and that’s not where we’re at as a country. It would be nice to just say they can’t accommodate at this rather than send me something that I don’t need based off the details they have.

We’re not at the point of 100 to 200 ppl at a wedding just yet.

Oh ok I see. But from the venue’s prospective, I think they were hoping things would be cleared up by now like most of us did. And I’m sure it would take time to create packages for smaller weddings. Depending on the venue, I imagine it would need to go through a few levels of approval and they still have to make sure they are making enough to stay afloat and pay all their employees. It’s a tough situation on both the customer and the business side. I think talking to an event coordinator is the best way to address these things because it may take time for them to have that information available in a package that can be sent out. We don’t know what all goes into running their business.
