Venue/Date change after invites have gone out

Robyn, on March 21, 2012 at 1:09 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Unfortunately, our original venue has become too expensive for us. Has anyone ever had to change venues after invites have already been sent out? Or know someone who has? How did you go about it? We are thinking of sending out "New Location" cards. What do you think? Our wedding was supposed to be in 74 days, so thankfully there is still SOME time, but would like to get this done as quick as possible!

I'm update your website and then mail out a "change of location" card.

I agree with MekMek. Things happen. Is your wedding a DW? I am just wondering why your invitations went out already.

It was a DW... sort of. The venue was about a 2 hour drive for mostly everyone, and it was on a Sunday, so we wanted to give everyone ample time in case they wanted to make a weekend getaway for themselves; and being in June we wanted people to be able to book their flights &/or take off work if they wanted to. Some financial issues have arose & basically it was a choice between having no wedding, or having a less expensive one.

I agree with mekmek. I'd send out a change of location to everyone

Thanks ladies! That's what we were thinking, but I just wanted to make sure there isn't anything else that we should do.
