Venue never sent a copy of the contract nor invoice ?

Brittani, on July 7, 2017 at 8:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

So we booked our venue about a month ago. We sent a signed contract and paid the down payment and I forgot to ask my FH if he ever got a receipt for the transaction or a copy of the contract signed by the venue. Well last night I was writing out the budget and asked for it. Turns out there was no correspondence after we did our end. I'm nervous. Did you guys get a signed contract back or receipt? I've emailed them and am waiting for a reply back.

Yes, for all my vendors (except HMUA) I got a contract, signed it and paid immediately.

I'm sure they will send you over the counter-signed contract!

For my venue, the woman copied everything we signed and paid for and gave it to us in a folder for our records

I got a copy of the contract the day we signed it and a receipt. They should be able to provide you a copy. If they are unwilling to provide either I'd be nervous!

We didn't get a copy of ours back immediately - maybe a week later? But they did send it to us on their own initiative at some point. For places where I've paid a down payment, I keep a copy of the image of the cashed check so there's no future dispute about that.

I got a receipt that included our contract on it. She even wrote in a bunch of things on the contract that my FH asked for, like how the chairs would be set up and what color flowers we wanted. I thought that was a nice touch! And super reassuring that she really wants to do a good job.

Yeah my decor vendor - i sent the deposit signed contract, etc. And it took a month to have it returned/for them to confirm. I needed in writing that my date was secured. I kept following up bc I didnt trust things were set even though they had my money. I didnt want to take it for granted and assume we were set, just to find out months later it's not. Very important to be diligent

We received both in our email before we even got home from putting down the deposit. I would simply reach out and ask if you could have one.

Call them and ask them to email you. A legitimate place of business will do that

We got our contract back via email signed by the venue right after we put the deposit down. I would email them and ask for a copy, maybe they just forgot to send it.

YES, you need a signed copy. If you have already emailed, send certified letter. This is not good.

We met in person to discuss and then signed electronically, so we have a fully executed copy. I would definitely call them asap. Could be an oversight, or could be a major red flag.

For the venue, since it's a gift from FFIL, he gave us a copy of the contract and of the receipt (scratching all parts where an ammount is mentioned, but not the part where it says is fully paid), for the rest of them, I got a counter signed contract and the receipts, along with printed screenshots of any conversation I had with them via text or WhatsApp and any mail exchange... oh!... I'm also having a signed copy of any details discussed on meetings and any pic or idea I give them is printed with our logo as a watermark (you can never be too careful)

Ditto on calling first thing in the morning. And possibly email them if you don't get someone on the phone. I'd be super concerned that y'all haven't received anything at all in a month. You need your proof/contract/receipt STAT!
