Venue hasn’t cashed check yet

We got married a month ago. The guy at the banquet hall said we could pay him after the wedding, so the next day we deposited all the money we received in the bank and wrote a check to the banquet hall. The check still hasn’t been cashed. Not sure if we should call or not. The owner is retiring soon so maybe he decided not to cash our check? Or maybe he just forgot?

Also now that I think about it.... he never cashed our original deposit check either. I just assumed he was waiting until closer to the wedding.

I would definitely give a call so that you don’t go spending money or planning big purchases then realizing your balance is not accurate.

Hi there Krystyna!
That is quite odd! Especially that he hasn’t cashed the deposit cheque, I imagine you gave that to him quite some time ago.
As the previous posters mentioned, I would also advise you to reach out to the owner. Explain you noticed that neither cheque has been cashed and if everything is ok with them!
