Venue costs. What’s a good price?

Elizabeth, on July 26, 2020 at 6:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 25
I found a venue with great views. It’ll be around $3,200 for the venue including entree, two sides, and a salad. It also includes ceremony seating, set up, cedar arch, dishes, linens, etc. it’s basically all-inclusive. Now, I’m only having 40-50 guests.
Is this a good price?? Am I overlooking something? How much did you pay and what did it include??
Thank you all 😊

That sounds good to me. We had 45 guests. It was $2,000 for rentals including tables, chairs, linens (granted I picked the expensive ones), and dishes. $6,000 for 3 entrees, limited vegan entree, 4 sides, 5 non alcoholic options, beer and wine, bartender and servers plus fees.

Sounds good to me. Our venue for ceremony & reception is nearly all inclusive, minus floral basically is $9500 for 100 guests.

Sounds close to what we are paying. Does this include a cocktail/social hour with appetizers? What about beverages?
Pricing is very dependent on location, so even comparing the exact same services isn’t going to be helpful unless you’re comparing venues in the same area.

That sounds like a good price to me. That's hard to come by in my area. I agree with Jessica that prices vary by location so your best bet is to compare the pricing with other venues in your area.

That sounds amazing! We’re having 25-30 guests and will probably end up paying $**** for both ceremony & reception venues and catering.

Sounds like a really great price. We paid $5000 just for the space, no food or drinks included, so in my eyes that is a great deal!

Wow...That’s a deal! We’re inviting 60 and our venue’s food & beverage minimum is $5k. Then the ceremony and reception spaces have separate fees (and includes the chairs, tables, other set up etc.)

Ours is $178/person and is basically all inclusive and includes gratuity. With 60 guests and taxes, it came out to a little under 11k.
If we could have found something at your price, we would have jumped all over it.

It is including appetizers. But not beverages. We and most of our guests don’t drink, so we will be able to keep the cost down on beverages.
    Thanks for your reply 😊

That sounds like a good price to me.

Ours is $5,500 for 60 people (we booked for the minimum since you can add more later) and that includes the ceremony & reception space (there's no fee for these), tables, chairs (we got some special chairs for free), dinnerware among some decorations they have that we can use, & the dinner which includes a a choice of 2 entrees with sides, coffee/tea/lemonade and a few other things. They also help with day of coordinating so we won't have to pay extra for that and they hold a free tasting event so we can choose the meals we're going to have. All of this is their Sunday price which is way cheaper than what we would have paid for a Saturday wedding.

Holy moly! My venue is $4500 and that is just for the space and enough tables to seat everyone plus extras for dessert, DJ etc.

Definitely a good deal! My venue is $7,000 just for 300 guests and tables. On top of the venue rental, we have a $2,100 beverage minimum (which aggravated me a little in the beginning since we intended for our caterer to bring all the drinks, but I'll have to pay the minimum and still order drinks through our caterer as our venue only offers alcohol and soda - no tea, lemonade, water, etc.). Catering, florals, decor, etc. are most definitely an additional charge, and mine to handle at that, so it's my job to arrange for everything except what my venue includes. They require everyone to be licensed and insured as well. Regardless, I wouldn't change my perfect venue for the world. I toured a ton of places and really liked them, but none of them came close to comparing to mine that I truly loved. I will say, though, that a lot of this depends on location. Anywho, I wish you the best of luck!

Absolutely! I didn't only mean alcohol though. The non-alcoholic beverage station at our reception is $150 for three hours (since it's brunch it's juices, water, and coffee).

Having no idea where you are, it's hard to say if that's a good price.

Where I live, that price would be suspect, as anything less than $150/head is considered an incredible bargain.

What matters more is if it's what you can afford and also what you want. Then it's fine!
