Dedicated April 2018

Venue an hour away.

Desiree, on October 4, 2016 at 7:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 27

The venue I love so far is within budget and allows outside alcohol is an hour away. If you were a guest, would you be put off driving an hour? There are other venues in our area but for double the price, and they either don't allow alcohol (champagne toast only) or only for a set amount of time (4 hours). I personally don't think an hour is to far, anyone else?

Our Wedding is an hour and fifteen. We've only had one person complain.

I wouldn't mind at all, as long as the ceremony and reception are near each other. It would be annoying if they were an hour apart, but I have no problem driving an hour to attend a wedding!

No, I wouldn't be put off by driving an hour, but then again, I typically do hour drives to attend our family weddings. I would be staying in a hotel local to your venue after the wedding, so remember to do a hotel block for your guests.

And, congrats to you for finding a way to make proper hosting fit into your budget. I'm certain your guests will appreciate the cocktails you're providing for them.

Our wedding was just over an hour from where we live. It was going to be OOT (4 hour drive or plane ride)for about half our guest list no matter where we had it. No one local really complained about it.

Following this was something I was looking into. As I loved a ranch an hour away but didn't know if people would drive.

Ours is an hour for us and most of our guests. A lot of folks are just getting a hotel room.

Is there a hotel nearby? If so, I'd drive a lot more than an hour.

Ours is an hour and a half. I wouldn't go any further than that. An hour would be fine for a well hosted wedding.

I would organize hotel rooms and group transpo because all of our friends are city people who don't drive.

Our venue was between 1-2 hours away from the majority of our guests. We reserved a room block for those that might want to stay (hello, open bar)

I did an hour for my brother's wedding this year, didn't bother me. Just make sure to block off some hotel rooms for your guests.

I'm ok with an hour drive as long as the ceremony and reception are at the same location. I wouldn't want to drive an hour to the ceremony, hour to the reception and then an hour home.

I wouldn't have an issue with an hour but try to have the hotel you pick close to the venue

Our wedding is going to be at least an hour for most of our guests. As long as it's not too early in the morning it shouldn't be an issue

An hour is acceptable. Any more than that odds start going up that I'll get a hotel. But mine was an hour from my house and an hour from his families and only a few people were late. But I knew it was a risk. Friday at 5 pm in New Jersey it was to be expected that some people would be late.

I expect any commute I have to take an hour.

This is pretty typical, in my experience. I've driven about an hour, even a bit more, for weddings, and our wedding was about an hour drive for many of our guests.
