Vent! Ugliest bridesmaid dress you've had to wear.

What's the ugliest bridesmaid dress you've ever worn in a wedding?

I'm in an upcoming wedding for a good friend of mine. The bride and her sister picked out the worst bridesmaid dresses for us girls. It's a strapless, knee length, shiny barbie pink dress. She's even having us get equally terrible barbie pink shoes and j

Post - got cut off. Here's the rest:

She's even having us get equally terrible barbie pink shoes and jewelry. I love my friend and am excited to be part of her wedding....but man, this dress! I feel like I'm just waiting for Ken to pick me up in his pink convertible, so we can head to the wedding. I don't want to complain to the bride, so sucking it up with her. But dang, spending $200 on this outfit just made my wallet cry. Would love to hear your stories re: worst bridesmaid dresses! (I should've taken a picture in the dressing room for this post! lol)

Would it make you feel better if you could turn it into a Barbie costume for Halloween next year? Then at least maybe you'd be getting your money's worth.

This was the worst one I've had to wear (I'm the one on the far left ):-D Lol. Complete with gold strappy 5-inch heels that killed my feet. This one was pretty rough!

Oh Marion...HOW did this happen? Did you guys try to talk her out of it at any point? ETA: that color makes me think of Cheez Doodles. Lmao!

Please don't mention this to the bride! As long as she asked what everyone's budget was and stayed within it, she gets final say on BM dress even if you hate it. No bride can ever make every BM happy. I hated the shoes in a recent wedding that I was in (fuschia dyeables that stained my feet), but I didn't say a word to the bride.

My BMs were told that they could pick a dress in a certain color and style and I would purchase. I also gave them option on neckline, sleeve length, and length of dress (knee length or tea length). They all settled on the same dress then when it came in complained to me about it (it had crinoline... I asked for vintage-y style and they all "loved!" this dress with crinoline). I felt terrible, but I had given them choice but they still complained. They all looked great the day of the wedding so it worked out in my opinion. It just made me realize you can't please everyone.

Also, technically the bride should buy the jewelry/shoes if it's being required. I've been in a wedding where I've been required to buy shoes but technically etiquette says the bride should buy if she's requiring a certain style of shoe/jewelry.

Here's a pic of what my bridesmaids probably thought was a hideous BM dress (but at least I paid for it?).

I think those dresses are great Elizabeth! I just bought my girls long grey convertible dresses. They couldn't decide on which dresses they liked, so I just said F it. This is what you're wearing and don't even think about complaining. One still did of course. "It's too complicated to figure out how to wear it." like there aren't a million videos on YouTube to show you.

All the bm dresses I've had to wear have actually been pretty. But my best friend did make me sew in boobs during alterations. (She wanted to give me a little more umph)

I was the only one who had them!

Thanks Alexis! Once I saw them all, I LOVED THEM. But the day of, I was like "I don't care if you wear the crinoline or not!! Don't ask me!" Lol. The BMs asked the photographer and she was like "the crinoline looks awesome! And the dresses are beautiful!" So crinoline stayed and I felt better about my non-choice?

It was just so weird because they ALL picked this dress at the beginning and then all of them had something they didn't like about it?

I was in a BM in a wedding about 10 years ago and the bride wanted a big southern fairy tale wedding. Her dress was huge, poofy, her as close to god as she could get it with the biggest tiara he could find and she expected no less drama from her 12 bridesmaids! 12! We were in pink poofy, glittery, poofy dresses with poofy sheer rounded cap sleeves, i kid to you not that we looked like a slightly less done up version of glinda the good witch (just no wand, crown and the sleeves were slightly less big than hers). I have worn that dress as a halloween costume... twice.

@elizabeth I love that color blue! It might not be there style but they are cute dresses. I would not put them in the ugly bridesmaid dress category

I have never been a brides maid and I'm not having any but I would definitely do the convertible dresses. They seem to look good on everyone and be a dress you might wear again.

I had to buy a mint green floral dress for a wedding and all of us BM's had to have a different one. So I went shopping with 2 other BM's and of course they found theirs right away and I couldn't get the same one either of them had so I had to keep looking. I couldn't find anything! I went into store after store for about 3 months and still couldn't find anything. Well I found one online (pretty much the only one online that fit what the bride wanted) and ordered it. It was pretty much my only option so I just kept it even though I hated it. It does't help that we had to wear cowboy boots, a leather belt around our waists, and a floral headband. We looked TACKY!

@MzRosaLu we had actually gone shopping together and had found a dress that worked for everyone and that the bride/BM's loved. Then we randomly got an email saying she changed her mind and that we had to order this orange dress. We weren't able to try it on before ordering, it was super $$, so we weren't thrilled... But we did as we were told, because we were only 23 and she was the first one of us getting married, we just went along with it! We were originally allowed to get whatever shoes we wanted, and then we got a text saying she found shoes she wanted everyone to wear (5-in strappy heels).

But you know what, she paved the way for the rest of us. It's been 6 years and we have all been/are being much chiller brides after experiencing that wedding Smiley winking

I really disliked the BM dress I had to wear at my best friend's wedding in October (sorry!!). It had this ruffle thing on the side that was so random and just not flattering.

I'm not sure these fall into the "ugly" category per say... we all voted and the bride paid for them so I really have no right to complain... but even though I gave her my exact measurements it was way too big in the breast, my mom tried to fix it but it was still extra bulky there. It would have been ok strapless, but the spaghetti straps just seemed really tacky. The color didn't quite match the groomsmens shirts or our bouquets and it brought out the redness in our skin (all of us are pretty pale). It hit right below the knees and made us all our legs look super stubby.

idk... they weren't that bad... but I still didn't like it.

PS I'm the 2nd from the bride

I don't have a photo, but it was a lilac, long, satin dress with long flowy tafita down the back (looks like wings). Thank goodness I was young and in shape at the time, a thin piece of satin isn't flattering on most (think flabby belly with belly button indent visible and panty lines... ewwwwww)
