Vendor regret?

Shelby_Erin26, on April 7, 2016 at 7:37 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

I have been googling pictures of other peoples weddings at my venue to get an idea of what pictures I might get. While doing this I stumbled upon a photographer and the photos are AMAZING. I clicked on their wedding tab to see other weddings and their pricing came up. They are $1,000 cheaper and would be there for 4 more hours than the photographer I booked. Now I'm super mad at myself for hiring the first photographer I liked instead of looking around more. Has anyone else experienced vendor regret? I'm super bummed out about this Smiley sad

ETA: they are $1,000 cheaper, not $1,500

How much was your deposit for your current photographer? If they save you that much, I would lose the deposit and see if the others are available!

My deposit was $500. I'm not sure if saving $500 is worth changing my photographer. Before when I thought it was a 1.5K difference and would be saving me $1,000 I was getting ready to email the other photog as soon as I talked to my FH.

Yep. From someone who regrets hiring their photographer, make the change while you can. I get annoyed every time I look at certain pictures or parts of our video because our photographer wasn't the right one for us.

If you think you'll have regrets, there's still time to reconsider

Ah I responded before you edited. Still, you have time. You will have your photos forever.

I think that regardless of saving money, if you think the new photographer would better fit your needs, do you need/want the four extra hours?, then switch. The money saved will just be a bonus. If you really love the new one, I'd switch.

I'd switch. Your pictures are how you will remember that day forever.

UM.....are you sure you like this photographer because their work is better? Or just cheaper?

Thanks ladies. I sent the new photographer an email to see if he's available.

I was going to say get in contact with the other photographer because you want to have the best possible photos for you and you don't want to regret that decision, but it looks like you already contacted the photographer Smiley winking good luck!

I would be all about saving $500. That's a lot of money.

I'm meeting with the other photographer on Monday...

I don't know what my deal is. I feel so bad about all this. I have no idea how to let the other one go if I like this guy more. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, I might not click with him and it won't even matter but its causing me so much anxiety.

Something else I'm worried about is that I have a boudoir shoot scheduled with my current photographer...if I do let her go will she still do the boudoir shoot with me since that's not part of the wedding package?

@Jay Farrell Photography I am actually not sure. That idea keeps running through my head and I am having the hardest time figuring out my feelings about it.

Yes your new photographer should still do your shoot, but I would cancel because it would be awkward. As far as letting her go, that is business and I am sure she has experienced it before. We are so glad plans didn't work out with our first choice because who we have now we are super excited about! Go with your gut and don't look back Smiley smile

Maybe post the links to both photographers so we can weigh in about if this new person is worth it or if you're clouded by the price?

I actually had the same thing happen to me but the photographer we first picked still takes amazing pictures and she's the sweetest ever. Our personalities blend so well and she makes us feel so comfortable so we stayed with her, despite us liking the style of the other photographer a bit more. This is a hard decision but totally up to you. Good luck!

Your first photographer is very straight forward. Standard posing, "safe" shots. Nothing wrong with that.

I prefer your second choice. He has more "candid" shots and seems to know how to capture a "moment"

What is more important to you? Safe or Candid?
