I have been googling pictures of other peoples weddings at my venue to get an idea of what pictures I might get. While doing this I stumbled upon a photographer and the photos are AMAZING. I clicked on their wedding tab to see other weddings and their pricing came up. They are $1,000 cheaper and would be there for 4 more hours than the photographer I booked. Now I'm super mad at myself for hiring the first photographer I liked instead of looking around more. Has anyone else experienced vendor regret? I'm super bummed out about this Smiley sad

ETA: they are $1,000 cheaper, not $1,500

I also prefer your second choice. Personally, I like the photojournalistic style better than the very posed wedding shots. I think it lends itself more to capturing the real moments of the day.

If you do decide to switch, just know that it is totally ok! Don't stick with the first photographer just because you feel guilty. You will most definitely lose your deposit, but thats ok. Hopefully the first photographs can re-book for that day. Your photographs are memories to last a lifetime. Go with whatever style of photography you prefer. Also ask your good friends and family which photographer's portfolio they like more. Don't tell them the prices.

4 hours is a lot of time. So after further research if you still love them I would change it. Its hard to judge by one wedding or a few photos from a full wedding. Most articles say ask to see an entire wedding of photos that is on budget with your budget. Its hard to make an expensive wedding look bad (like it takes a really bad photographer), its the same when venues have pictures in brochures of mockup (fake) weddings or weddings 3 times your budget. Of course it looks good in pictures. But like I said 4 hours is a lot of extra time, I'd probably go forward and lost the deposit or ask if you can apply the deposit towards something else like bridal photos.

They always say with weddings prioritize whats important to you, videographer, photographer, DJ, etc. and budget accordingly! If you really feel like the second photog will be better, go for it!

I switched photographers. I just let them know we have another option that would work better for us, and obviously apologized. They said they understood. If they were mad I never knew or cared. I'll never need to encounter them and I now have a photographer I know I'll be much happier with. They were the same price too for the record.
