Veil: In front of face or no?

Bethany, on March 21, 2013 at 11:17 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

Are you wearing your veil in front of your face as you walk down the aisle or not?

I want to, but am afraid he won't be able to see the emotion on my face!

Opinions?

I'm not. I have allergies and so the blusher is a no go for me.

Ummmm def not. It looks weird and claustrophobic and awkward. There should be no reason your face should be shielded.

What if you got some stank a$$ breath while talking? That's all you'd be thinking about!

I so wanted to but my ceremony venue was very dimly lit and I walked down a flight of stairs for my ”entrance” and couldn't see with it on. I did have pics taken with it over my face though. I think my avi is one of them...

No I won't be. I usually feel like this is for more virginal bride.

Oh my goodness, GREAT question. When I was trying to figure out what style of dress I should get, I asked FH what he thought as soon as the doors opened at the back of the church (in his mind). Instead of offering any vision of me in a dress, he said "I see you with a veil over your face." WHAT?! That was NOT part of the plan.

I'm now debating it too! The veil I bought is a 2 layer fingertip deal. Mom says veils don't get pushed back right, so I better keep it simple. Does anyone have pictures of what their veil inspiration is, or a wedding photo of it?

    I didn't even wear a veil.

If you've always wanted to, why not? If it's a thin veil, he'll be able to see right through with no problem.

This was my inspiration. Grace Kelly's wedding. I wanted a veil pic like that. Smiley smile That's what I was going for with my avi pic.

I am in love with the look for a veil!! I say go with the tradition and wear it over your face. You're "supposed to" wear the veil over your shoulders and face while walking down the aisle. Your dad puts takes it off your face and presents you to your groom, but the back portion is still in front of your shoulders. Then the groom pushes it all behind your shoulders to present you to the world after your kiss. I think it's romantic and pretty. FYI you can spray some hair spray on the inside of the veil so it doesn't stick to your face--- you can form it better.

I was originally going to wear a veil and not wear it in front of my face but I ended up not liking the veil with my dress so I changed it to a hair comb. The beading on the hair comb matches the beading on my dress too.

I think this is a personal opinion. I absolutely hate the blusher. Won't be wearing one. I don't even like when they flip the veil close to your face when trying them on. I prefee mine back behind me which is probably why I ended up witj a cathedral Smiley smile

The veil is very thin and he will be able to see you fine. If you want to, to for it, ypu will look beautiful!

Most veils are so sheer that you see right through them. In fact, at my last wedding my MiL (who had begged me to wear that style) DIDNT EVEN REALIZE I HAD WORN IT. 🤦‍♀️ So if you’re worried about being hidden, that’s not an issue. The only thing I didn’t like was whoever lifted it off my face and back (can’t remember if it was my dad or ex husband) struggled with this task and it made for an awkward moment.
