Using alcohol given at engagement party for your wedding

MrsMelissaP, on April 20, 2016 at 8:26 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

My coworker was asked to bring a bottle of alcohol to the engagement party and in return, the bride is using all the alcohol at the wedding. Thoughts??

I've never heard of this before and I don't like it. You shouldn't use someone's gifts to host your wedding

Do you mean the couple just gave the alcohol back to their guests that they brought to the engagement party? Well that's a new one, and it's rude.

I feel like if I brought alcohol to an engagement party, I would expect to drink it then.... why save it for the wedding?

Also did the couple actually request alcohol to be given to them?

    Uhmmmm, no.

That is basically a byob event and rude as hell.

Does anyone care about manners or etiquette anymore?

    That's just rude.

Yea, that's not cool. But at least it's something we haven't heard before.

Tacky and rude :/ it's one thing to have a "stocking the (home) bar" shower, hosted by other people, for your own personal use. It's another to ask everyone to cover your alcohol costs for the wedding by essentially making it a byob.

Then the guests have ultimately provided the alcohol for the wedding. Wow. Well that's a new kind of cash bar then, or better yet a BYOB wedding.

Ya..... I'm gonna have to give that a no. Thats weird and rude.

    A) gifts are not usually expected at an engagement part ( I dont think??? Could be wrong)

    B) I would hope no one is BYOB-ing anyway

    C) they are essentially being asked to fund part of the wedding.

Nope.. I dont like it. Don't like it one bit.

Tell your coworker to bring a jug of orange juice...
