(*UPDATE* Page 5) DRESS IS IN! But :'-( ...bad news, way too tight (PICS)

So I posted here yesterday my dress came in and I was so excited to go see it! Well, I tried it on and it zips up, but that is it! I can't move....I can't breathe....I can't sit. As a shuffle around, the dress shifts up and bunches around my waist. They said they can take out an inch at most, but...

So I posted here yesterday my dress came in and I was so excited to go see it! Well, I tried it on and it zips up, but that is it! I can't move....I can't breathe....I can't sit. As a shuffle around, the dress shifts up and bunches around my waist. They said they can take out an inch at most, but the owner said I needed to lose weight :'-(. I'm so bummed right now. The last thing I thought I'd have to worry about was fitting in my dress. I haven't ever had a weight problem and have always hovered around the same weight. I hope I can lose enough to be able to be comfortable and dance on the wedding day! I'll need to lose about 10 pounds, and the last time I weighed that much was sophomore year of high school when I played tennis for 2-3 hours a day! BTW...my face is blurred because I have a lot of friends who are getting married and if they peruse this site, I want to be anonymous! Otherwise I'd show the whole pic ;-)

Maybe I shouldn't say ten pounds...that number came from me, not her....she just said "some" weight. I just was basing it on how darn tight the stupid dress is! To me, it would still be tight unless I lost 10 pounds...but maybe with the alterations I won't feel that way. I mean we can fluctuate like 3-4 pounds throughout the day and I know I gained like 4 pounds, so that's where I came up with 10. Bleh!

Yeah, I don't think this is the salon's fault or your fault. It may be the manufacturers fault, but I don't think that will help you. It sounds like the only thing you can so is get it let out. I think that 1 inch could be all the difference you need.

The fit of the dress looks really good... Be careful when trying to lose weight to fit into the dress. You don't want to lose weight in the wrong areas. I'm guessing it's the hip part since that part looks like it's meant to be tight... Simply change your eating habits (eat smaller portions, more fruits and veggies, cut out soda, etc). And by doing that along it'll help you to lose inches... Good luck!

I agree with Ashley 100%. They are the professionals and measured you. You need to stand up for yourself and ask them to order the size up. Ordering too small and then asking you to lose 10lbs is crazy, especially if you feel great and healthy at your current weight. You look amazing btw. With 100 days maybe hey have time to exchange it.

Maybe a pair of Spanx? It looks a little tight in the hip area

Worst case scenerio would they be able to put a corset in? That will give you more room since they ordered it in the wrong size.

Maybe try getting a body wrap and see how you fit in the dress afterwards. I didn't read all the comments but thought it's something new I could suggest. I don't think you need to lose weight.

Even from a non-professional standpoint: when they saw that your hips fit exactly at a 6, they should have ordered you an 8. You want to be able to breathe and dance in your dress! (Let alone sit...) They made an error and you need to put on your big girl boots. You don't have to be rude to them (although I would want to punch that lady for announcing that I needed to lose some weight...) but be firm. You shouldn't be held responsible for their error and you shouldn't have to drop ten pounds to fit in a dress if they supposedly measured you correctly.

Yeah I was thinking about the body wrap Mrs.Chanel. I thought I could do that like 2 days before? I will definitely consider asking they exchange the size though. I do agree its common sense to order a size bigger if someone's hips are the exact size of the measurement. As for a corset, I really have an aversion to them (no offense to anyone that likes them, just personal preference). Plus it would mess up the whole detailing with the beading on the back. I also don't know how much that would really help in the hip area, which is the biggest issue. It actually needs taken in throughout the bust area. :-/

OMG now you have me freaking out. My hips were exactly a zero and the rest of me was smaller so they ordered a zero, what if my dress doesn't fit.

Ah! I didn't mean to scare you Mrs. Matthews! I hope it works for you! They can let it out an inch I'm sure so if that's the only area you'll probably be OK. Mine is too tight from my ribcage to my knees so I hope it works out better for you!!

I would see if they can exchange it, because you look amazing!!! Otherwise maybe that inch they could let it out would be enough.

I don't see how you could lose 10 pounds and stay looking healthy!

That is a fabulous dress!!!! It looks amazing on you! But you need to be comfortable and look amazing at the same time. Can't bust a move and with an uncooperative dress!!

Try the wrap ahead of time though so you can see if it works out. Then if it works out bam problem solved

I agree with @tiki money buns! a corset back will give you that extra little wiggle room. I absolutely vote AGAINST you losing weight & it was super rude of them to suggest that.

Sounds like the salon screwed up! But I don't think that it would be that hard for you to make it work though. You are lucky you are already thin, try lifting weights for the next few weeks and you should be able to fit into your dress perfectly and will be nice and toned for your honeymoon! Seriously, I just started with a personal trainer a few weeks ago, and I've lost 3% body fat and a few inches after just 2 weeks of lifting 4 times a week!

*UPDATE* So my mom and I went back to the salon after work yesterday to discuss my options. I was greeted by this guy who has some fierce attitude. He's been really sassy (not in a good way) throughout the whole process, but really ramped it up yesterday. I asked if the owner was available and he snipped back that she was on the phone. I said ok, I just wanted to discuss our options and go over alternations with her. He rudely said "Well, are you going to lose weight?" Seriously. I said, well since the dress was ordered to my size, I dont' feel I should have to. He gave me a snotty face and went back to get the owner. Before he got her, I explained I did not want to cause any issues, I just wanted to figure out what the plan was. So the owner came out and we went over measurements and everything. It turns out they measured my waist wrong! There is NO WAY I've gained an inch in my ribcage area since October, and to top things off, based on the measurements they first listed, the dress they ordered was still a 1/2" too small! Thankfully, it turns out the dress has a 2" seam allowance, rather than a 1" like she originally said. So we should be just fine!!!!! She also gave me $100 off alterations (even though it should have been free in my opinion). But hey, I'll take what I can get! Once I get my dress in my hands, you can BET they'll be getting a NASTY yelp review. Oh, and I checked yelp's hidden reviews and some people never even received their dress and were also told comments about their weight! Plus they have a "D" grade on the BBB!!!!

I cant believe they would order it to small then tell you that you need to lose weight to fix their mistake. I have to give you credit because knowing my attitude I would have punched someone by now lol

Where are those 10lbs coming off of? Are you losing a bone? Like a hip? lol You look amazing and the shop is def. responsible if they ordered the wrong size.
