(*UPDATE* Page 5) DRESS IS IN! But :'-( ...bad news, way too tight (PICS)

So I posted here yesterday my dress came in and I was so excited to go see it! Well, I tried it on and it zips up, but that is it! I can't move....I can't breathe....I can't sit. As a shuffle around, the dress shifts up and bunches around my waist. They said they can take out an inch at most, but...

So I posted here yesterday my dress came in and I was so excited to go see it! Well, I tried it on and it zips up, but that is it! I can't move....I can't breathe....I can't sit. As a shuffle around, the dress shifts up and bunches around my waist. They said they can take out an inch at most, but the owner said I needed to lose weight :'-(. I'm so bummed right now. The last thing I thought I'd have to worry about was fitting in my dress. I haven't ever had a weight problem and have always hovered around the same weight. I hope I can lose enough to be able to be comfortable and dance on the wedding day! I'll need to lose about 10 pounds, and the last time I weighed that much was sophomore year of high school when I played tennis for 2-3 hours a day! BTW...my face is blurred because I have a lot of friends who are getting married and if they peruse this site, I want to be anonymous! Otherwise I'd show the whole pic ;-)

Oh that is just CRAZY. Girl you are just a petite little thing, where 10 lbs would come from is beyond me! You are just perfect.

Have that dress let out an inch and see how it fits then. Don't stress about the dress fitting... that is the last thing you want to worry about!

They said to wait until mid-July to do alternations so I need to work on my figure before that just in case letting it out is not enough. The last thing I want to do is a crash diet the month before my wedding and my my hair fall out from malnutrition (exaggerated of course but you know what I mean!?). With 100 days to go, I could lose less than a pound a week and be where I need to be. Based on my BMI, I'd be at the minimum of a healthy BMI for my height, but based on my frame, I don't know if that's really accurate or not. I have wide bone structure and no waist, so I'm guessing my bones weigh more than someone my height that the lowest BMI would be considered healthy for (does that make sense?). I guess if I'm a little underweight, its only temporary though...def don't plan to stay that weight and will prob gain all 10 pounds back on our honeymoon! Now someone pass me a mai tai!!!

Unless your eating habits are really bad, don't stress yourself too much trying to diet & exercise too hard. That added stress will make it more difficult to lose weight to begin with, and you don't look like you need to drop any pounds anyway! (Seriously, look at your arms! They're so slender!!)

See if it fits better let out a little. Sometimes an inch can make a big difference.

Regardless of whether you signed a contract on the size you are not a bridal gown consultant and didn't know what it meant to sign for that size. Go back in there and raise hell. My girlfriend got married in a too tight dress and spent half the night in the bathroom with her dress unzipped trying to rig it into fitting.

You guys are really so so sweet. I'm literally tearing up! I was so discouraged yesterday and whether the dress fits or not, your compliments make my heart so happy. I think the thing that is scaring me is the shop owner said I needed to lose some weight. She's supposed to be the expert and if she says I do, then to feel comfortable I guess I do. It did sting when she said it, but I'd rather she say that then lie and have it too tight on the wedding day!

Lauren, yes the owner might be the expert but she is also trying to save her own ass because they probably know that they made a mistake. Easier to say for you to loose weight than for them to admit they made a mistake and reorder the dress. I would go back to the store and see what they can do. Don't stress yourself out, especially if you are happy with your body right now!

The dress looks great on you, and you're thin. Where are you going to find 10lbs to lose?

I guess I'm scared to go back and cause a scene. To give the whole story, I ordered a dress from them from a trunk show and called the next day begging them if I could cancel and order the one I really wanted (the one in the picture). Originally I won a raffle for 50% off a Casablanca dress. So that's why I ordered it at the trunk show. Deep down I knew it wasn't "my" dress though. So they were able to cancel the order and reorder the Allure dress in the picture...and they still gave me 10% off and didn't charge me a cancellation. So I hate to be THAT bride that causes them a headache at every turn. Idk...I just feel bad about the idea of asking them to reorder, especially when I signed off on the size :-(

I hate the BMI crap. I am 5'8 and weigh 119.5 and I do not starve myself by any means and I no longer exercise to burn calories, I exercise (sit-ups, crunches, etc) to tone up. According to the BMI charts I am "under weight" and I cannot sign up for any type of health/fitness apps/websites because I am "unhealthy." And my wedding dress is a size TEN. I had to order it for my biggest measurement, which would be my hips since I have had three children since 2009. The hip area fits perfectly but the rest, especially the bust area, needs to be taken in quite a bit.

ETA: My dress is a Casablanca Smiley smile

You don't have to cause a scene to get what you want Smiley smile But you got to be honest by letting them know that the dress that they ordered for you isn't working, and that loosing 10 lbs is not an option. You trusted their judgment when it came to ordered the right size.. and it isn't. So, they need to fix it. You can do this Smiley smile

Did you try on the size you signed for before they ordered it?

Dont take all this stress onto yourself, ask the store to help you out! You shouldn't starve yourself because you're afraid that they might think you're a diva! This is a total rational reason to ask for some help from the store--you arent being demanding! Your dress is uncomfortable!

No they only had a 12 in the shop when I tried it on. I tried it on at another salon in an 8 and it fit really well except for the bust that needed to be taken in. Should have spoken up!! I also paid the rest of the balance yesteday so I don't even have that for leverage :-/

And remember - after your wedding is over, you'll never have to see them again. This is your WEDDING DRESS, raise some hell. (well first start off with asking nicely, because that usually works).

Well if it fit in the salon, it should still fit now, unless you gained a whole lot of weight, which you clearly did not!

The sample dresses you try on are usually stretched out, which is why the 8 fit. BUT they know that and should have taken that into consideration when they ordered you an 8. I was in the same boat and they made me order the 10 to be safe because it couldn't be let out. I thought they were just trying to make money from alterations but they said they would exchange it for the 8 at no cost if I lost weight.

The dress they ordered was a 6 and I tried on an 8 just to be clear. And I gained about 4 pounds since then so if I lose another 5-6 on top of that maybe it'll make the difference? IDK....I'd almost rather go hungry than have to fight them...I'm a coward!!!
