Under the dress stuff for fit and flare

HRH Mags, on January 15, 2013 at 1:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 6

With this question I feel like a little girl asking her mom about bras lol.

Opinions on best under the dress options for a fit and flare gown? I realize spanx seems to be very popular but havent actually tried it myself so...any other brands out there you think is better? Thanks!

I'm a little lost on everything I need to wear under there. If you wear a body shaper like spanx do you also wear a long line bra or just a regular strapless..?

When I tried on my dress they put me in a long line bra that was seriously way too big so I didnt really get a good idea of how it should correctly fit.

I can only give you my opinions... I decided on a strapless gown and have an ample chest and am ...well... curvy... so tried on longline bras with all the dresses I tried on. Gave me a smooth line. And as I am wearing an A-line dress, with the crinoline, ,works well.

I thought about Spanx, and for one of my appointments, did wear them. I wore what I already had and since I vary in sizes from day to day and it may have been one of the smaller ones in the drawer, but felt like it was not worth it. Also the seams on it showed on the satin dress I had on,since the ones I was wearing went to the thigh and had multiple seams. Are you planning on wearing nylons/pantyhose?

Ultimately.. I decided to go with just "regular" undies - nothing sexy - as sometimes they "crawl" on me and just basically feel more comfortable.

Just a long line bra in my right size, some cups to lift me up so there is a little but of cleavage, cute panties (but not thong, probably cottony fabric-getting married in may hot spring month), and a fit and flare slip. I don't even own spanx. I would probably feel claustrophobic but a long line bra in your right size would smooth u out pretty good.

I have a fit and flare. I will be wearing Spanx underneath to flatten out the lower tummy pooch. my dress has a fairly open back, so I will see if the seamstress can add chest support so I can go braless. Then I plan on getting a crinoline fit-and-flare slip to help the dress poof.

My dress is technically a fit and flare, but it is a corset top with pretty good boning, so I'm not planning on wearing anything under it because it keeps me held in and up pretty well on its own. Just gonna wear some little white lacy underwear or something.

I own a ton of shapewear so it's going to be my something old LOL

I have several options. A regular old strapless bra and high-waisted brief spanx or spanx that start under the chest, but have longer legs than briefs. My dress has a lot of ruching so that "should" hide the lines. Like I said, I'm going to take it all to my fitting and just see what works. Helpful I know.
