I think you have to have all the typical brunch items:biscuits, different types of salads, fruit, quiche, frittatas, french bread, pancakes, pasteries.

We're having a cocktail hour and sit down dinner with stations, better known as a buffet. I agree on the waffle thing, tho. Belgian all the way!!!

We're doing a version of a brunch: crepes and eggs benedict and breakfast pastries & muffins, but also salmon, sirloin, salad, potatoes, veggies, etc. This is for a 1:00 Sunday buffet. I'll admit to receiving criticism for it, but it's what I want! I originally wanted a 10:00 ceremony and 11:30 brunch, and when the times shifted I wasn't ready to give up the breakfast foods ...

I went to a brunch reception years ago and they had both breakfast and lunch items - since it started at 11:30, and people got to choose all of their favorites - for breakfast they had an omelet making station (w/attendant), a pastries station, cut fruit station, a pancakes & waffles station (w/attendant), and all of the breakfast meats; for lunch there was a ham & chicken carving station (w/attendant), veggies - both cooked and salads, rice and potato sides...and then a dessert section for those of us with sweet tooths! It really was a great and festive idea. The organization to get tables up one at a time for the initial go-through was a little confusing, but I think with the right coordinator it could be managed.

We had a picnic dinner immediately following our ceremony, in a picnic area at Valley of Fire (had to drive from the ceremony site at Rainbow Vista, but it was less than 5 minutes away). Wraps (roasted chicken, fried chicken, and hummus), fresh fruit, a pasta salad, and a spinach salad, with iced tea & lemonade to drink. Then we reconvened at the hotel and had mini-cupcakes and sparkling wine in a hotel suite.

Our hometown reception was a cocktail reception--medium hor d'oeuvres and cake, with beer and wine (sparkling & non).

We're having a full coctail hour with 20 different passed hors D'oevres, 8 cold displays and 3 captains stations. Dinner will consist of an appitizer salade combo, and 3 entrees offered tableside.

Semi-formal. Cocktail hour, then platted dinner including 3 course dinner. It also comes with cake and coffee. It was a bit pricey, but we decided to exclude the open bar (we dont want too much alcohol so we will just have a bottle of wine in each table) and the appetizers. By doing that the price wend down considerable.

We had two. The reception after the ceremony in Massachusetts was a luncheon reception. The at-home reception in DC was an evening reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres, open bar, music, and dancing.
