Trying on Wedding dresses with makeup?

Corinne, on March 14, 2019 at 10:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27
Hi guys 😍 So in a few days I’m going to be trying on wedding dresses for the first time ever and I’m extremely excited. I’ve been watching a few videos of other people trying on dresses on YouTube and I’ve noticed that a lot of people have on makeup while trying them on. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love makeup but I’m scared that I’m going to have it all over the dresses. What do you guys think about wearing makeup while trying on wedding dresses? And do you guys have any tips when it comes going dress shopping?
Thanks 😀😀

Do you normally get it on your clothing? I just wore my regular makeup and it wasn't a problem.

I personally wouldn’t do it. I touch my face constantly and I have gotten dirt/oil on my fingertips and touched clothing before. I now remember to wash my hands every single time I try on something delicate.

Although you should wash your hands and do your very best to not get makeup on the dresses I would recomend having your hair and makeup look nice when you try on dresses. Will help to envision how nice you will look wearing them and you will want pictures with them plis what if you say yes to one. You dont want your "said yes to the dress" pictures to look weird because you dont have your hair and makeup done. Just dont over do the makeup and make sure tobuse plenty of setting powder

Yes, this. I stepped into every single one of the 20+ dresses I tried on. Wearing or not wearing makeup never even occurred to me. I wanted to look good and feel good as well as get a realistic picture/image of what the dress would look like on me.

You normally don’t pull the dress over your head so wearing makeup isn’t a problem they normally have you step into the dress so you are fine to wear makeup

A lot of shops ask that you don't wear face makeup. I used to work for a dress boutique and women would come in with a face full of makeup. I can't tell you the number of dresses that were ruined or would get covered in makeup. It makes it a less enjoyable for the next bride and it takes a lot of cleaning for the shop. I wore a cc cream so I had some color and then wore a little bit of eye shadow.

Regarding tips, wear your hair up! You really can't see the dress with your hair covering it and pulling it forward. If you think you love the dress you can put it down, but for actually trying them on, you can see the dress better and it is easier for the assistant helping you try them on. Also, wear a full back underwear and bring any extra undergarments you may want to wear. Have SO much fun shopping!

Every time I’ve gone dress shopping I’ve been given a thin face mask to put over my face whilst they put the dress on you and you take it off on e over your head. Stops any make-up from going on to the dresses :-)

I was not wearing any make up when I tried on dresses. I didn't even think of putting on make up for that. LOL

I do remember stepping into all of the dresses I tried on. I also only wore eyeshadow while trying on dresses. I was just afraid to get any foundation on the dresses.

I’d recommend you have nicely done hair and some makeup on. At the end of the day you’ll wear the dress on your special day with nice makeup and gorgeous hair, so you should at least try to recreate that, so you can envision yourself on that day... for the most part, you’ll be dressed by someone, you won’t be doing it all by yourself. You put the dress from the bottom up, so you shouldn’t be leaving your makeup on it. Try not to touch your face too much and maybe wash hands frequently.

While I understand others saying you should have you hair and makeup nice to envision how you’ll look on you wedding day... imagine falling in love with a dress without any makeup or hair done. I went with my hair in a bun, and maybe some tinted moisturizer. I loved my dress on just like that, so I could only imagine how it’ll look with my hair and makeup done.

I only had a little makeup on when I went dress shopping. I wouldn't be too worried because each dress I tried on I had to step into; I didn't put any over my head.

I stepped into every dress at every shop 8 went to, except David's...and you could see all of the makeup caked to the inside from other people trying them on. I have never felt dirtier than when I left there. I think as long as you're not going to David's, makeup smudges etc. shouldn't he an issue

I wore a little bit of makeup to give me a more overall, finished look trying them on. You will be with a sales person who will make sure you are careful putting them on and taking them off.

Also, take heels (something along the lines of the height you want to wear on your wedding to give you a feel for how the dress will look with heels-- the look changes in flats...)

I wouldn’t worry about this. Typically wedding dresses are Step-In, and someone is helping you, so there’s no reason your face should be rubbing on them. I didn’t wear a TON but I made a point to put on a teeny bit so I could get a more accurate idea of how I’d look

Not worth the risk of getting it on the dress. I wore concealer and mascara but thats it!

100% this. You will have a much better experience if your hair and makeup look nice. I couldn't say yes to a dress when I went without my hair done.
