Torn between 2 venues- The Rockleigh & The Palace at Somerset Park

Ahh the venue dilemma. I think most of us have been here lol. It would help a bit if you explain your pros and cons for both venues and maybe even posting some pictures of both 😃

You're not the first community member to be torn between those two venues!!! I might be a bit biased because I'm kind of obsessed with The Rockleigh (something about those stairs remind me so much of Cinderella - my favorite movie ever) but The Palace at Somerset Park is also to die for!! They both have such amazing reviews on WeddingWire too (which I'm sure doesn't make the decision any easier)!

I'm getting married at the Rockleigh this November I didn't really choose it, my mom did! She went to a wedding there 5 years ago and secretly tucked it away in her mind for me. In addition to the Rockleigh I toured Florentine Gardens, Falkirk Estate and Old Tappan Manor. Falkirk was actually my first pick before touring, I thought it was larger from the pictures. But after seeing in person the Rockleigh stood out as the one venue that had everything I needed--great service, experience with South Asian events, beautiful indoor and outdoor space, meal accommodations (halal ingredients only), capacity for 250+ guests, etc. I decided at the time that I trusted my mother and liked the venue so the decision was made! Since my wedding is in November I didn't need expansive gardens or lush outdoor space, I needed more indoor beauty. What season are you looking for?

Each day I am happier with my decision to proceed with the Rockleigh. I found that they are very responsive--mostly they are proactive and reach out to me first. Everything they do is professional and respectful.

Sidenote: If you're looking for a wedding planner you'll want to check out "wedded events" with Nada and Ayhem. I met them in person and they were absolutely gracious, not to mention their BEAUTIFUL implementation. Unfortunately outside my budget but I've been following them on IG and it's breathtaking stuff. Maybe they'll fit in yours?!

The Palace

It's so hard!!!!!

The Palace (10/27 sunday)

Pros

-get ready at the venue (6 hours prior)

-many hotels near by (one walking distance)

-Viennese and sushi included in package

-No one we know had their wedding here / attended

-Read good reviews

Cons

-Smaller party so we are in the west room and half of the room has lower ceilings

-concerned about layout (half of room has low ceiling)

low ceilings

-looks a little outdated

-hotels aren't as nice

The Rockleigh (Nov 3 Sunday)

Pros

-layout is great: round stage built in with tables around

rockleigh ballroom

-beautiful chandeliers and floors

-Great reviews, word of mouth (food so good they do not have tasting)

Cons

-Viennese and sushi are an add on $15pp for sushi and $20pp for Viennese.

-Many couples we know have had their wedding here/attended one at this location

-Hotel is at least 15 mins away - will have to get ready here

Congrats!!!! Rockleigh is beautiful inside, your mother was right! We are also thinking of taking a November date as well. We have a smaller guest list (125-130) so I'm just glad we were able to find an evening time. I've been to so many places and they have minimums for evenings so we were a little discouraged.

I do like the option of doing something different so that would push me in the direction of the Palace. I also looooove food so more to me is another bonus haha. Ugh I'm so torn for you!! Like Latasha said, I'm almost leaning toward the palace just because it's a different location than previous weddings you've attended. But that Rockleigh ballroom is so stunning. Do you think if you were to get married at the Rockleigh, you'd be picturing/comparing your wedding to the other weddings that you've attended there before? In otherwords, do you think you'd get déjà vu from the times you were a wedding guest there?

The Palace is nice too but I know I'll be stressed out all year!!! Going to Rockleigh to take another good look tomo!
