Timing of shower invites and wedding invites??

I wanted to get my invites out before the shower, but it wasn't possible. I ended up sending them out about week after her. I don't think it matters too much on timing, but if you can wait 2 weeks -- do it.

They say to mail out your wedding invites 6-8 weeks before the wedding, so I don't think it matters if your shower is before or after that time. My shower invites were mailed out a month ago and I am not not sending out the wedding invites until April 24th.

I don't think it matters with the Bridal Shower invites vs. the wedding invites. Most people you invite to your shower are most likely well aware of your date. I did not send out save the dates so I will be sending my wedding invites earlier than 8 weeks out (plus hotel block is released 30 days before the wedding).

You have received some great advice. Bridal showers can be given 1 to 2 months prior to the wedding date or sooner (per the bride's availability). Invitations should be sent 1 month in advance. Hope I was able to help.

Thanks for all of your thoughts! It's just that I am having a destination wedding and wanted to get the wedding invites out earlier than if I was having a local wedding. But I did send out STD's back in October. I hope everyone has already started getting their travel arrangements in order! Actually most of the people that I know are going have already told me that they have their flights, booked their rooms, etc. We just all couldn't agree on a date for my shower, so invitations are going out a little late for that. My MOH says I have to get the shower invites out before wedding invites. I guess it really doesn't matter. I will probably send them next week since she is sending them this week.

I actually prefer for my wedding invites to go out before the shower invites. I'm hoping to get mine out by the end of this week. Shower is May 1 so those invites need to be going out shortly as well.
