Timing of Group Thank You Gift

Karissa, on February 20, 2023 at 1:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3
My grandmother is throwing us a couple's shower and as a thank you gift my fiance and I are planning to take her to a show (ballet, musical, concert, etc. - we haven't settled on what show yet). We also want to include my mom and my future mother-in-law as they are doing other things to help us out, including hosting the rehearsal dinner.

I am wondering about the timing of presenting the 3 women with this group gift since the shower is a couple of months before the rehearsal dinner. We were originally planning to do it at the rehearsal dinner but I am wondering if this will leave my grandmother thinking that we aren't acknowledging her for the shower. We would of course send a thank you card right after the shower, but now I am wondering if we should we consider a small hostess gift and thank you card at the shower itself? Any thoughts or suggestions about the timing would be appreciated!

Perhaps you could give the gifts between the shower and rehearsal. You could give the tickets to each person in separate cards and see each in person (if you live near them). In your grandmother’s card, you could specifically thank her for the shower, and then in your moms’ cards specifically thank them for hosting the rehearsal dinner.

Send a thank you card immediately and arrange the outing at a later date.
