Timeline help for groomsmen & photos

Sara, on June 10, 2019 at 10:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi all,

Our wedding is this Saturday 6/15 !!!!! Need some day-of timeline help. The bridesmaids and I will be getting ready at the hotel that morning, with HMU and photographer. I haven't totally ironed that out, but I'll talk to them all later today and I'm not really concerned.

My question is about the groomsmen and photos. We're not doing a first look, and the ceremony begins at 5:30. The groomsmen are planning to go straight to the venue to meet, pin on their boutonnieres, have a shot or two, collect their thoughts with FH, and that's it. I can send the photographer to meet them if we want. When should the groomsmen get to the venue? FH is thinking of telling them all 4:30. He will be there a little earlier. We are not social media people, couldn't care less about Instagram moments, and aren't at all into long photo sessions. Does 4:30 leave enough time to assemble the groomsmen on site? FH thinks this will be fine but I'm skeptical that it's enough time.. What would you suggest for this timeline?

Congrats on your upcoming day. I'm your date twin!
I think 430 is enough time. Groomsmen tend not to need as much time as bridesmaids anyway

Is there a separate space from the ceremony space? Do you think guests might start to arrive if they are still taking pictures? 4:30 should work but maybe 4 just to be safe

Hi Kate, Yes guests may start to arrive around 5... We do have some irritating early birds in my family. I'm leaning more towards 4 for the groomsmen, but I don't think we'd need earlier than that. The venue is a historic estate, so the property is huge, but the ceremony area (backyard)/ cocktail space (patio)/ reception area (indoor gallery) are all next to each other. I think they could easily sneak away to another part of the property from 4-5.

    Hey Sara!!

I think 4:30 would leave enough time but perhaps aiming to be there for 4 would make everyone a little more comfortable. For example, they will not start to stress out if there is traffic! Smiley laugh
