Thoughts on cupcakes?

Are they seen as tacky at a wedding in addition to a cake? Personally, I am a fan as using cupcakes allows for a wide variety of flavors. I also think they're cute. I would be ordering them from a specialty cupcake shop, not Costco or a grocery store.

Wow, I completely missed that part of Melissa's comment. That is so insensitive and offensive.

I missed that in Melissa's comment as well.

@melissa - Someone is still a "normal person" without "advanced motor skills."

Melissa I'm not sure what you mean by your comment of eating cupcakes like a normal person? I wasn't aware there is a correct way to eat a cup cake. How to eat a cupcake is on par with the Kit Kat debate or Reese Cup debate. Possibly even the Oreo debate. Please clarify your comment because it's reading rude as hell.

I'm even more disgusted that there are 5 people here that agree with such a gross comment. I did flag it, because it's such an incredibly offensive statement.

Way to make any couples dealing with physical disabilities feel less than, @Melissa. People like you are the ones who make people like my son feel like there's something wrong with them, because of the hateful looks and comments like yours here.

I haven't been to a wedding with cupcakes but I doubt I'd mind as long as it tastes good.

I love cupcakes, but hate them at weddings. If you do decide to get them, as PP's have said - don't go overboard with the flavors. I've been to weddings where they had absolutely absurd flavors and as a result, ended up with 30 some leftover cupcakes.

People do cupcakes because they are cheaper. I think it's tacky as well.

I've been to several weddings with Cupcakes and loved it. Half the ones with regular cake I don't bother eating it. I don't understand why people associate it with a kid's birthday party, because cupcakes are used in all sorts of celebrations and every day occurrences for adults as well. I think if you're reserving cupcakes for children only that you are seriously missing out.

We're doing vegan cupcakes in 4 flavors, making sure to have one plain vanilla option for the less adventurous people. We also have a small cake, which is more for decoration than eating though it will be edible. We haven't decided whether or not we want to do a cake cutting.

Either way, I'm super excited to have cupcakes and don't find them tacky or to be cheaping out.

Although they sound like a great idea, make sure you have an area where they can be stored cold before being placed out so they don't melt. We wanted to use cupcakes but don't have a cold storage at our venue. The associate helping us said the frosting is different from cake frosting. Totally inquire about that, see if they can be left on display for a long time. The last thing you want on your wedding day is melty cupcakes.

As long as they're tasty I'm down for cupcakes. I missed the offensive comment but based on the responses that's a shitty way to put it...

Jamie- I have not heard the Kit Kat or Reeses debates. Are there different ways people eat them?

I'm doing a dessert bar and I'll have mini cupcakes, mini cheesecakes and mini cookies but then I got a small cake for me and FH to.cut into. I think cupcakes are great because I've been to weddings and their cake that they paid so much for goes to waste.

Thank you for all the comments. The cupcake bakery I would get them from has flavors like raspberry champagne, dulce de Leche, chocolate Guinness , as well as all the basics. I'm hoping this would class it up a little.

I never thought a cupcake thread could get heated lol.
