Thoughts?!? Ceremony and reception in same venue/room??

Antannia, on October 16, 2016 at 6:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

Thoughts?!? I was never the girl that was into a big elaborate princess fufu wedding. I've always leaned towards courthouse ceremony and reception/celebration party afterwards with friends and family. Well FH said he always dreamt of his wedding day as a wedding sharing his love, vows in front of his close ones. Also we have 3 young boys between us (ages 7,10,11) who once they were told we were getting married instantly googled their tuxes and bow ties lol and can't wait to "walk down the aisle also". FH is having family come for out of state so I wouldn't want them to drive 2hrs for reception only and not ceremony also have a step dad who raised me and would love nothing more than to give me away. With that being said I was thinking maybe having a ceremony and reception all in the same room? Maybe have my guest arrive I'll have wine cheese and cracker table and fresh fruit, my DJ will announce when it's time for our ceremony guests will sit in their seats, Continue not comments

Short sweet ceremony begans and afterwards reception starts immediately.. I plan on having it catered for dinner. Sweets table, open bar I just want it more of a laid back party atmosphere here's some pics of some ideas I found online I do plan on having a isle runner and nice decorations and center pieces I just don't want to shuttle my guest around

@Winter wonderland bride. That's a great idea, I was thinking I was an oddball thinking of having it all in one area...

You have some really great inspiration pictures! My ceremony is going to be outdoors at my venue, but if it rains, the ceremony will be in the same room that the reception will be in. I've been trying to figure out how to make it work with all of the tables in the room. I like the idea of having an aisle in between the tables, like in the pictures that you posted.

Our wedding and ceremony will be in the same room. After the ceremony we will have a cocktail hour in another room while they transform the room.

We are having ceremony and reception in 1 spot. We have a lot of out of state guests and it was much easier than having everyone be carted elsewhere

My venue is all the same place. We will have our ceremony outside (weather permitting) and then walk in the door to the cocktail hour and reception.

If it rains the ceremony will be in half the reception space, then during cocktail hour they'll spread out the tables and set up for reception!

We do this all the time. Most venues can handle it gracefully.

My cousin had his ceremony and reception in the same room. After the ceremony, they had a receiving line right by the door. Once you were through the line, you were outside where there was a bar. During he receiving line and a little bit after, people where switching the room so that once we'd all had a drink, we could go inside and find our table.

It worked out really well. If there any other space you can have guests be during The Change over. It was only standing space at this wedding which was fine for everyone.

Yayy!! Thanks ladies I'm so glad I'm not the only one with that idea...I just find it too be much easier than 2 separate areas and much cheaper, now I can spend more money where it means most to me like food, dress, decorations and honeymoon Smiley smile thanks guys, guess I'm not a weirdo lol

Mine is going to be in same space. I have looked at several pics on their fb page to see what other people have done. This is what I'm thinking I'll do.

I used the same venue for both..ceremony and cocktail hour was outside (older guests sat inside) reception was inside but guests were allowed to go in and out. For places that used the same exact room the event coordinators told me that they flip the room during the cocktail hour so the tables are off to the side already setup and they just add chairs.

We're having ours in the same room! After the ceremony, the guests will be able to go into another room for cocktail hour and then come back in and start getting food shortly before we arrive back. Smiley smile

Honestly the ceremony is only like 10% of the day lol. I think what you described is perfect

We are having our ceremony outside and the reception inside but it if rains it will be inside where the reception is. I don't think it's a problem at all, lots of people do that.

I'm having everything in the same room. Still trying to decide between two layouts, but I've got plenty of time to figure that out.

Mines in the same reception venue. It makes it sooo much easier. Also guests might appreciate it because they don't have to travel to ANOTHER place after the ceremony. You can get up and isle runner and chairs so your boys can walk down the isle with you and then take that down really fast for everyone to dance! You can get pretty creative here to save money, give everyone the parts of the wedding they were dreaming of, and have a really good time. Smiley smile
