Thoughts?!? I was never the girl that was into a big elaborate princess fufu wedding. I've always leaned towards courthouse ceremony and reception/celebration party afterwards with friends and family. Well FH said he always dreamt of his wedding day as a wedding sharing his love, vows in front of his close ones. Also we have 3 young boys between us (ages 7,10,11) who once they were told we were getting married instantly googled their tuxes and bow ties lol and can't wait to "walk down the aisle also". FH is having family come for out of state so I wouldn't want them to drive 2hrs for reception only and not ceremony also have a step dad who raised me and would love nothing more than to give me away. With that being said I was thinking maybe having a ceremony and reception all in the same room? Maybe have my guest arrive I'll have wine cheese and cracker table and fresh fruit, my DJ will announce when it's time for our ceremony guests will sit in their seats, Continue not comments

My venue was all inclusive of ceremony/reception and it was BRILLIANT.

BUT- it had multiple rooms (4 specifically) a ballroom, a library, atrium and a "dining room" which had a very long table that the buffet was set up on.

It was great- plenty of space for people to move around and shift social circles. I thought it was excellent.

That's exactly how we did ours. We had cocktail hour which we attended, then the guests were escorted to the dining room and as soon as they were seated at their tables, we walked in, and the officiant was waiting for us in the middle of the dance floor where we exchanged our vows, right after which we did our first dance, then dinner was served Smiley smile

    Worked perfectly!

Sounds like you are on the right path. Lots of people do it. I've seen it like you described/pictured as well as with the room cut in half by a wall border for the quick change to take place after the ceremony. The latter is usually when the couple has a cocktail hour.. it should be fine either way and a great compromise for you and your FH.
