Those of you who had or are having bridal portraits done...

Natalie, on November 30, 2016 at 11:29 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I was married a few months ago, and while I loved my photos, I kind of wished I had a few more bridal shots done of just me and a few more with DH. That being said, my dad's hobby is photography, and he will be taking some pics of us in our wedding attire again in a few weeks. The only thing is I do not have my original bouquet, nor can it be replicated again as I wed in St. Louis, and the shoot will be in Florida, where my parents reside. If you were me, would you just get a bouquet from the grocery store, or ex it out all together? Maybe this is a silly question, but I am just curious. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I would get a bouquet from the grocery store, maybe with same flowers?

I'd say that's totally up to you. Do you care if you have flowers in your pictures or not? The picture I ultimately chose for my "bridal portrait" which was framed and hanging in my home, I wasn't even holding my flowers. If you are going to do flowers, I would just get some from a local grocery store, or maybe even just buy a couple of cheap bouquets of flowers (white roses, etc) and arrange a few stems/fillers together to make your own. I wouldn't spend a ton of money on them.

I did mine with a bouquet from the grocery store, I don't think anyone would even be able to tell.

It's up to you if you want flowers in the picture. If you do another option is to buy a fake one. Have you ever heard of Eco Flower - https://www.ecoflower.com - I'm obsessed with them. They sell beautiful wedding bouquets. Plus it could be a cool keepsake .

Up to you- it won't matter if it doesn't match... I did them without- I didn't even think about bringing flowers- which was a mistake- I could have grabbed some from the store that morning- and I really wish I had- it would have helped.

But- even with out them- it was fine- my pictures- are- imho amazing.

I'm considering this as well because my photographer didn't spend any time taking photos of me in my dress which I really regret. While I can get an exact replica, I suggest you try to get as close as possible. Or you could find something through a florist there that you like more!

The picture I chose as my bridal portrait isn't even a full body. I used a single white rose in it. Personally I'd say either choice, grocery store or none at all, are fine.

Nastassia- in that way I"m glad I didn't have my bouquet for our earlier pictures- because once I had it in my hands- all we did was take pictures with it- I think we would have missed some really great shots had I been holding it.

I got a few lovely portraits, and this one I absolutely love (minus that vase in the background that I can crop out). But wanted a few others and a few artsy shots with hubby. I love Theo photos you guys posted! Absolutely exquisite. Thank you all for your feedback.

I'd like to say to- if you are really uncomfortable in front of the camera- I'd get the flowers. they'll give you something to focus on with your hands so you don't have dead hands or awkward hands.

In theory- your photographer if they are worth their salt can help you with this- they should be coaching you through all this- and fixing said awkward hands- but if not- the flowers are a nice easy and sensible fix.

    Aw thanks!!!

The art factory ones- I didn't have ANYTHING- just- us- so we had to make do- pixie was like- wait- do you have flowers and I said. NOPE.

So it was okay- sure it would have been nice to have them for... A FEW- but I'm really glad I didn't have them- we had SO many awesome pictures without them!

I vote you go to a grocery florist, show them your bouquet pictures, and ask them to replicate them as close as possible!

Okay you guys sold me, I will go to the grocery florist lol. My bouquet will be pretty hard to duplicate, but I'm sure I can get it somewhat similar. My mom may even make it for me, she's super creative. I wish I was more crafty, but it's hard for me to even draw a straight line! lol

I think you will be fine getting a different bouquet. For my bridals, my hair and bouquet were different b/c I didn't want the same look as my wedding day.
