Third wedding--color of my dress okay? Asking for advice.

I'm getting married for the third time. First time was too young and ended in divorce after a year. Second time my husband died (a few years ago) of cancer. This time is the charm, and my first real wedding (the first two were courthouse weddings). Many know of my second husband, but few know of my first. I'm having a blast planning... and this is his first wedding! We're both in our forties.

Anyway, we're having an Edwardian-themed wedding. Think Downton Abbey. I've selected a silver dress to match my silver and royal blue colors. Is this weird or inappropriate? I adore my dress, my silver brooch bouquet, and everything else, which I know is really what matters, but I don't want to be inappropriate either.

Please advise. I have plenty of time to get another dress if I want to.

    This is my third as well, same story just in reverse. My first husband died very young of cancer, second was a douche bag. I'm wearing an ivory dress and rocking it! This is my first real wedding, without anyone else's input. I think you will look lovely!

    The dress sounds like it will be beautiful! I'm wearing a champagne colored dress, and it's my first wedding. Color doesn't matter.

    I'd say wear whatever you'd like to. I don't think weddings, especially dresses, are as traditional as they used to. Sounds like a fun theme!

    My sister in law wore green and it was her first wedding. Do what makes you feel good. Don't look back and wish you would have worn but didn't because you thought people might not like it.

    You should feel beautiful in your dress, and it sounds like you've put much thought into it (matching the bouquet, shoes, etc). I think your family and friends want to see you in something you love! No worries it isn't the usual white gown, weddings are supposed to be customized! Congrats!

    Thanks, folks. It just felt a little weird to be wearing white for a third wedding, and a little weird to be wearing silver, too. But it is a beautiful dress and I think he'll love it! Smiley smile
