Thinking about putting straps on my dress pic heavy.

Casie, on July 31, 2016 at 12:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I feel like it will be so annoying trying to pull my dress up every few minutes. It's not fitted yet but I'm thinking straps will really help. Either satin straps or crystal clear straps. Idk what do u guys think looking at the dress

Is that Allure 9003? If so, yes it is a really heavy gown. However, good tailoring can make all the difference in the world.

In my opinion, you could do straps or even a little cap sleeve if they mimicked the pattern and detail of the dress.

Casie - this gown is beautiful. I personally love it without straps, and if it is altered properly, you shouldn't have to pull it up or be tugging on it at all.

Also - dress tape. If you do forgo straps, and are worried at all - buy some dress tape and put it above your bust, under arms, and back. That thing won't budge!

No straps but a suggestion. One of the dresses I have had a strap inside like a bra strap that actually was holding my dress up in that area. I'd talk to your seamstress and see if it's possible to add that. I actually pull things up all the time as my boobs love to try and pop out. With the strap I told you about it was perfect and I didn't feel like I needed to continuously pull it up.

It is beautiful! If you had the exact same satin as straps, I think it would look good. Comfort is very important! But like others said, good seamstresses will make it so you dont have to worry about pulling it up. good luck!

I'm in the same position as you and I put straps on my dress with custom straps made from the dress. I was having a hard time keeping the dress up so I added halter straps.

I think either satin straps or cap sleeves that match the sparkling part on the upper part of the dress would work great. I went for a gown with sleeves to that I didn't have to pull up a dress all night. I think there's something very tacky about seeing a beautiful bride pull up the front of her dress over and over again.

My dress is matte satin too, and it is heavy. The thing is, if the dress is fitted properly (meaning snug enough to SLIGHTLY restrict breathing in the rib cage,) it should not need to be pulled up. A lot of brides don't like the feeling of the restriction, and have it altered to be too loose, and then the dress slides down throughout the night. The dress gets its support from the bodice around the ribcage, and having that fit tightly is the key to preventing needing to pull it up all night.
