Thighs Chafing... Solutions?

Mika, on January 20, 2013 at 2:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Lol, fat girl problems... So anyway, any time I wear a dress and move around a lot (say walking around all day and then dancing at a wedding reception), I run into a little problem with my thighs chafing, enough to leave big angry very-not-sexy and painful red raw bits on my inner thighs. (TMI yet?) Anyway, FH loves the look of garter belt suspenders (me too for that matter), and I got a great set of lingerie for under the dress, that holds things up beautifully and looks great on it's own too, but I still need a solution to prevent the thigh scrapage. Usually, I just throw on some bike shorts under whatever dress i'm wearing, but in this case, I wanted something a little more attractive. Any ladies here have any suggestions? Thanks all!!

Bodyglide is you solution. It is a waxy thing that athletes wear to prevent chaffing. It comes in a stick like a deoderant stick. You should be able to find it at any specialty running store, and possibly a place like Dick's Sporting Goods. Or the internet.

I stick will last a very very long time.

This is the best!!!! Stays on for hours, totally sheer, no residue. I use it often and have for many years. It is amazing in 100 degree Florida heat. You can buy it at CVS, Walmart, pretty much all over.

BodyGlide is not a deoderant, it just comes in a stick that looks like a deodorant stick. It is a clear waxy substance designed for runners and other endurance athletes to protect skin from chaffing. It will work wonderfully for what you want - it is odorless, colorless, and sweatproof.

Lane Bryant also makes their own version of an anti-chaffing creme that works well. I use it when I work out and it's awesome! I think I paid less than $10 with a coupon.

I have the same problem.. I was planning on wearing spanx or something along those lines most of the day (then I'll feel tight and "tucked in" all day) and quick taking them off before leaving the reception to go to the hotel with FH Smiley smile

I just buy Spanx with thigh control. :-) Works to stop any chafing AND helps me look better in dresses!

I have the same EXACT fat thigh issues! :-) I never wear a dress or skirt without biker shorts underneath. I was also wondering what kind of undergarments I would wear since I want to be able to get to the bathroom easily, but I also love the idea of feeling sexy underneath with the garters. Mika, what exactly did you wear underneath?

And thanks, all, for the bodyglide rec! I'll definitely look into that.

Hi! I am recently just got engaged and I wanted to say that I have been a horseback rider for about 5 years and that has lead to a lots of years of my thighs chaffing for the entire day. My rashes on butt and my thighs would be killing me all day and I definitely not going to be feeling like that during our special day. I use Anti Monkey Butt calamine powder because it gets rid butt sweat and answers the question on how to prevent chafing thighs. I do like bodyglide as well, but I like that Anti Monkey Butt doesn't contain Talc in their products. The less harmful to me, the better! I hope you had a great No Chafe wedding!

I agree with Tammy. When I was in my wedding I had to use something for the thigh sweating that was going on and I didn't want it to ruin my time afterwards with my husband. Nothing ruins the mood quicker than an irritating rash on your thighs. So since I already knew that I have a problem with that, I put some on before I put on the wedding dress. Made all the difference. I would advise that you check out www.antimonkeybutt.com and the second thing I would recommend is to get comfortable shoes. I wish I would have done that because I was in pain for two days afterwards because my shoes felt like they were cutting into my feet the whole time. Get Comfy shoes!

You need something to help prevent the chafing and heal the irritation in the area. I have the same issue and started using Lady Anti Monkey Butt powder for it, works wonders for me (plus I think the name is hilarious). I mainly like that after the whole talc debate they removed talc from the lady products (they have a mens as well), so I know I can be comfortable with what's in it. The calamine in it helps heal the irritation and keep the area moisturized while the powder absorbs the sweat from the area to prevent the sweating/chafing. Highly recommend trying it
