The cats PEED on my wedding dress!

I got a call recently from my mom back in Washington state. She was super stressed out. She told me that apparently while me and my other half were moving out of the house, the cats got stressed out, and decided to urinate on my wedding dress, which was hanging on the back of a door.

Luckily, it was in a garment bag and only 2 little tiny spots actually got on the dress and she said she got them out, but seriously cats? couldn't you have found anything else to take revenge on?

I was worried about that happening here with the little ones so I put a plant hook on the door to my closet on the inside and hung my dress there. It will need to be pressed anyway and I don't use the closet much but it certainly makes it less stressful to have it where I know little hands can't get to it.

Sorry to hear about your dress but I'm glad your mom was able to take care of it.

I would definitely get it cleaned. When I was little I had a cat that would pee in my cousin's hair at night when she was asleep. No clue what that was about. I know they relocated the kitty though.

Oh my god, my heart SANK when I read the title! I'd get it cleaned too and maybe see if you can store it somewhere cat free?

That's awful I am so sorry! I have had cats and know how cat pee can linger forever. I would strongly suggest getting it professionally cleaned and throwing out the garment bag it was in.

Cats rule. I have three. They have never peed outside the box, I will admit, after saying all that, that my wedding dress is in a box, on the upper shelf of the closet, where it can't be reached.

My cat has only peed outside his box when he has had a urinary tract infection and stones.

Cats don't pee everywhere for any reason or revenge. Jesus Christ.

I have two wonderful kitties, and they've never peed anywhere outside of the box. Cats are sensitive to moves. You can't just put them in a new house and let them go. It should always be little by little. Anyways, you should get it dry cleaned just in case.

Omg lol at the comment with pet bird!!!!

Thank goodness it didn't completely soak through and your mother was able to clean the gown! Whew. Horrible, but poor babies must've been so stressed with the move.

Now... our cats tore through my friends veil that I was borrowing! I had it hanging near the shower so that when I take hot showers, the steam can help the wrinkles. I felt horrible when I found it on the floor! It only had a few small holes but still! I called my friend immediately to let her know. Thank goodness she was ok about it and told me it wasn't expensive. She also ended up making me a beautiful veil for Christmas.

I'm sorry to hear about your dress, that's really terrible.

But sorry, in with another "cats don't pee everywhere" comment. Saying cats "pee everywhere for any stupid reason" is completely uneducated (that particular statement). Yes, cat pee does smell if it gets into stuff, but cats peeing random places isn't normal - either something super stressful happened or some kind of illness. It's not normal for cats to be peeing on stuff. Goodness.

I lived at a friends house for a few weeks while in between moving and her dog always tried chew my things. Destroyed one of my pairs of sandals. Oh, and the angel dog also peed on my bed. Maybe I should make a blanket statement that dogs chew and destroy things for no reason and like to pee all over too.

Oh man- I would be on fire pissed! As most are saying: Take your dress to be cleaned (again), put it in 5 bags, and lock it away in a closet! LOL that's what I would do. I wouldn't take anymore chances.

Just another thought, as a "better to be safe, than sorry!" Make or buy an odor absorber...or purchase one of the cedar hangers and place it at the bottom of your dress bag. Cat urine can take a while to fully manifest, and is one of the most difficult odors to truly rid of. This will be a back up! Smiley winking

P.S. Our kitty NEVER pottied outside of her box, either...but...once when we went out of town, the stupid door to her box got stuck! She pottied on ONE rug, the entire weekend...bless her heart! Had to wash that rug three times to fully get the smell out!

I am with the anti-cat people. There's something about having an animal that can't be trained to live in your house with you. Fuck that.

I love my cats dearly, but I'm pretty sure they do things just to piss me off. They're jerks that way.

; ) Maybe get the dress professionally cleaned- you don't want to risk having even the faintest odor of cat pee on your dress as you're shmoozing with your guests! Smiley smile

OOO EMMM GEEEE! My eyes literally popped out of my head reading your subject! I would be HELLA pissed and have a Bridezilla moment/tantrum. Remember Vince Vaughn's response to the "shark attack" in the movie "Couples Retreat"? That would sooooo be me.

I love my cat but there was no way in hell I was keeping my dress at my house. It is my sister's house who is my MOH. She does not have any pets.

Ok, first of all, i'm going to stick up for the cats that DO NOT DO THIS. because not all of them do and the people that throw all cats into one group make me mad. my cat is awesome. he's healthy, he has NEVER done this.

that being said... i would be totally pissed. lol. the fact that it was someone else's cat that did this makes it even worse. i'm so sorry and she should professionally clean it for sure.

Thinking more about this, I would soooo have a big ass bridezilla moment and buy a whole new effin dress! At least I'd be sure there would be no more cat pee lingering.

OMG! My FH brought these two kittens home last year and I'm not an animal person, but the kids like them so they stayed :-/

Anyways, I have my stuff in a closet where they can't get to and I took my veil out for my hair trial. Literally I left the house for 3 minutes to get my daughter a block over from school and they ripped it and put holes in the bottom... My FH says it was definitely my fault, but I totally blame him for bringing them home lol
